I got up from breakfast and rushed out the door without saying a word goodbye. That's something I regret. But we'll get to that later. I was too busy wondering what the big surprise was. As I was walking to school, my boyfriend, Nate, came running towards me.
"Hey Genesis! Wait up!"
"Omigosh Nate. Guess what? My mom was acting really happy this morning she said I'd find out why on my way to school! Do you know anything about it?"
"Actually," he said, " I do know."
"Then out with it boy! I command you!"
He chuckled and replied "Alright woman calm down."
"Fine but please hurry up. Just tell me!!!!" I whined.
"Ok. Well first of all, I just want to say happy 18th birthday! And second, well this is hard to say..."
All of a sudden he got down on one knee. Now I know what my mom was talking about. And trust me, she was wrong. I wasn't all happy and excited for what was coming up. I was ecstatic.
"Will you marry me Genesis? I know we're only 18 but I want to marry you. I don't care about our age. All I care about is you and me. That we will be together. Never without one another. Please Genesis?"
"Holy crap of course I will! You didn't even have to be nervous! You should've known I would say yes. Tsk tsk."
"Thank you so much Genesis! I love you!"
"I love you too! Thank you Nate. Thank you."
Then we kissed. Not a rough kiss, but a soft, sweet kiss. A kiss full of happiness and relief.
"Hey Nate, I know you just proposed but I wanted to know if I could walk by myself and ya know, scream till my eardrums burst because I'm so happy and get my bearings straight? I promise I'll meet you at school."
I could see he hesitated. "Fine but you come straight to school. You hear me young lady?"
"Yes dad." I said while rolling my eyes.
"Good." He said. I started walking off but he said "Hey! Don't I get a kiss goodbye?"
"Of course."
It was a quick peck but I wished it lasted longer. I wished Nate said I couldn't walk by myself. That he wanted by his side at all times from now to the end of our lives or some crap like that. But sadly, he didn't. I look back on that day and wish that I had never even left the house.
He jumped into his car, being his house was right across from us. "Bye babe! I love you!" I said.
"I love you too! I miss you already! I'll see you at school!"
Then he zipped off. I started walking. All of a sudden I found someone trying to gag me. I started screaming. I was in shock and scared out of my wits. He attacked me from behind. I tried to S.I.N.G (s.i.n.g is stomach, instep, nose, and groin)him but it didn't work. Nate wasn't too far off so I assumed he heard my screams but he probably thought of them as nothing more than me being a girl happy and excited. I wish he knew I was in danger.
"There's no point in fighting girlie. You'll never win." I could tell that it was a raspy man's voice. The last thing I saw was a white van pulling up next to me and all I heard was an engine. After that, the world started spinning. I felt like I was falling down a rabbit hole just like Alice...
