So Here's the Deal

Initially, I was kinda freaked out by the whole "There's something we need to tell you...." but I mean, come on. Who wouldn't be the slightest bit scared of those words considering the current circumstances?




I could tell that Lex was obviously trying to stall because she kept saying things like "Well the thing is" and "So here's the deal". She kept repeating things like that over and over again and honestly I'm pretty grateful for that because if she was having trouble explaining everything to me, then I can't imagine how I would process all of whatever this information is.



Eventually, during all of Alexis' rambling, the girl beside her turned towards her and glared.

"Lex. seriously. The girl is going to learn sooner or later so just hurry up and tell her already!"

it was now clear as day that whoever it was that is sitting beside Alexis can be annoyed easily, I should probably make a mental note not to get on her bad side because I have a feeling that this girl has a lot of wrath and that she will use it whenever possible.

"Erin," Alexis said in a soothing voice, " I'm trying to think of a way to ease her into this situation."

Now most people in this situation would be pretty glad that they were being taken into consideration along with their feelings. I, on the other hand, am still focused on one, simple word: Erin.

When Alexis and I were in second grade, our best friend's name was Erin. Towards the end of the year, we were told that she had moved to a remote village in Canada, but no matter how hard us or our parents tried, we couldn't seem to get in contact with her.

After a year of trying, but to no avail, we gave up and attempted to move on with our lives. I think because of her so called "move to Canada", we became closer than ever before, making sure to spend available time together because neither of us wanted to lose each other. Little did we know, that would happen to us despite all of our efforts. And little did we know, we would all be together again.

it turns out that while I was replaying memories of all three of us together, I realized that this Erin character and Alexis were fighting over which way is better to tell me about what is going on. As I started to listen, I honed my vision in on Erin. I was starting to see all of the noticeable quirks about her that most people would overlook, but not me.

When we were younger, we would always like to point out each others' quirks and see who could use them to look the funniest. Erin always won thanks to her "concentration face", as we called it. Whenever she started to think deeply, or, well, think at all, she would start to scrunch her nose and her eyes would crinkle. She never looked awkward or weird with it, she always looked cute. SO to amp up her game, she would make some funny mouth movement/pose/whatever you would call it. Her style always varied. Sometimes she would bare her teeth, other times she would stick out her tongue and make inaudible noises that were hilarious.

No matter what the face or noise or expression, it would always bring a smile to our faces and I think those times would have to be some of my favorite memories.    

I let myself wander for a bit, drowning in the wonderful memories, smiling secretly to myself, giggles occasionally rising up in my throat, causing me to stifle them so I'm not disturbed by others.

When my eyes decide to open back up, I wake to the sound of the two girls still arguing.

Someone knocks on the door gently and then comes inside saying, "Miss Hithers, you are in agreat deal of trouble young lad, and I suggest you march your butt downstairs to sort things out."

I look around the room because I know that we are the only three people in the room and that neither mine nor Alexis' last name is Hithers and that only leaves one person. Erin.

I direct  my face towards her only to see her sigh in defeat then walk out the door. That's it. I found Erin. We are all back together now.
