Are You Kidding Me?

Genesis's POV

Alexis and I sit awkwardly staring at each other. She tries to make an attempt at a conversation with me, but for now, we both seem to be drawing a blank. Not much to talk about when you've been separated from your best friend for 5 years, now is there?

You no longer know much about them. What their favorite band is, favorite color, etc. It all becomes foreign to you. They've become a stranger to you. And that is exactly who I have in front of me. A stranger.

"I'll go check on Erin," she says, breaking the silence. She gets up and leaves the room, giving me a moment to myself.

I can't think of a single reason as to why I would be here. Maybe you're more important than you think, Iris said. Wow, we haven't heard from her for awhile. I decide to dismiss what Iris says. It's not true so might as well.

I sit and I sit and surprise! More sitting.

Just as I decide to get up and wander around her room - which just so happens to be pretty big - I hear laughter and immediately plop myself down onto the floor, waiting for them to come in.

As Erin and Alexis walk in, they give me the strangest look. I realize that I am sitting on the floor right next to the chair I was in moments ago and mentally slap myself. This must look so weird, I think.

And on top of just sitting in the floor they are probably making the conclusion that I snooped around her room- which I didn't! The stuffed animals on her bed are my witnesses! They will attest for it!

"Um... Okay?" As soon as I hear that, I realize I said that last bit out loud. I immediately shoot up from my little "seat" on the floor and fix my hair and clothes, trying to act casual as one would do in a movie or TV show. That means I probably did the most uncasual thing ever.

I clear my throat and say, "That was completely normal. Yep. I just, ya know, had the sudden urge to sit on the floor, and yeah. Don't you ever get that feeling...?" I trail off with an awkward laugh.

They just ignore my weirdness. They both put their hands on my shoulders and push me towards Alexis' bed so I'm sitting on the edge of it. Then, they both grab themselves a chair and drag it over so they are position on both sides of me.

"Look," Erin starts off. "You are probably wondering what this place is and why you were practically kidnapped and brought here. Am I right?"

I didn't know how to react so I just nodded.

"Ok. I really can't figure out how to say this. So I'll let Erin take this one. She isn't afraid to be blunt and just straight-out tell you everything unlike me, so Erin, take it away."

"When you ventured up here, you saw many different people, am I correct? This place is for people who have something.... special about themselves. Talents, per se. I, for example have the power of pranking. Now I know that may not seem like much, but it isn't like normal pranking. I can take it beyond the extreme. Sure, I sometimes do pointless and amateurish things, but when I need to, I can make a full-blown catastrophe.

"This is a school, more or less. We know it as Bainbridge. But, it's a special school. Like I said before, it's for people who have talents, abilities, and some may seem... supernatural," Alexis chimed.

"What do you mean?" I inquired.

"Oh you know: vampires, werewolves, the whole deal," Erin said bluntly, her voice mono-tone.
