One of the Guys
Chapter One
"So tell me why I'm helping you move into some house you haven't seen before?" Melanie asked her best friend as they made their way up the stairs of a red brick house. Melanie had long blonde hair and brown eyes. She and Maxine had been friends since they were in elementary school.
"You're helping me because I asked you nicely, and because I can't stand my mother being so...motherly." Maxine replied. Maxi was different from her best friend. She had ebony brown curls that cascaded down her back, and big, teddy bear, chocolate brown eyes. The two girls were complete opposites. Melanie was the girl who lived for shopping, and Maxine, well she was the tomboy. She enjoyed watching sports and playing video games with her brothers. So, how did they meet? Physical education was never a good thing for Melanie. So when Maxine practically risked her life in dodge ball, and instant friendship was formed. "Careful! That bag has Chestnut in it!" The blonde rolled her eyes at her friend.
"Why are you so angry at your mom? She seems nice."
"Mel, you've only known the nice Miss McCarthy. I know the bitter, really-needs-to-get-laid, Miss McCarthy." The two girls shared a laugh as the front door to the apartment flew open. A tall male emerged from behind it and stared. His shaggy sandy brown hair fell into his eyes. Maxine couldn't help but stare.
"Uh, aren't you a bit too old to be in the girl scouts?" He questioned with a smirk. The brunette snapped back into reality.
"No..." Melanie blurted, fingering her short green skirt. Maxi mentally slapped herself. First impressions were clearly going to be tough. "I mean, we're not too old, but that's not why we're here."
"Oh..." The male was silent. It took a nudge from the blonde for Maxine to realize he was still clueless. "So...are you going to tell me why you're here, or should I just guess again?"
"I'm the new roommate." Maxi supplied. Suddenly, his eyes widened. He gave her a quick look before yelling back into the house. The two girls shared a look.
"Are you sure you have the right house?" The beauty stepped back and checked the numbers on the house.
"Yeah, Tyler Hamilton lives here, right?"
"That would be correct." Another deep voice answered. "I'm Tyler." This time, the male had bright blue eyes and curly blonde hair.
"Well, it's nice to talk to you again. This is my friend Melanie."
"Hi there." The blonde greeted flirtatiously. Maxine stifled a laugh. Tyler blushed lightly. The blue-eyed male glanced back and forth at the three of them.
"This is Trent." He said, referring to the tall male that answered the door. Maxi smiled at him politely. Trent winked at her before disappearing. "Ready for a tour of the house?" Tyler led them further into the house. As the girls stepped in, Melanie cringed.
"Maxi, what is that smell?" She whispered to her friend. "It reeks!" The brunette rolled her eyes.
"Really, Mel? Here I was thinking it smelled like air freshener and potpourri." She hissed back.
"So, this is the T.V room. We've got a nice 46 in. flat screen, surround sound, video games, stereo. Practically everything."
"Sweet." Maxine smiled. Living here was going to have some perks. Melanie watched in horror as Maxi's eyes lit up at the mention of video games. Her mall buddy was going to turn into a comic-con convention addict.
"Yep, and over there is the kitchen, and this way is to the bathroom."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah…Where's Maxi's room?" The blonde impatiently asked. Tyler laughed at this. He motioned for them to follow.
