From the corner of my eye I saw Wells standing, his eyes filled with worry as he watched the group. There was a loud cheer and a group of seven or so stood up and started to line up. Murphy grabbed the wedge and started at one of the boys' wristbands, using a log of wood to centre it on. I shook my head slightly. Idiots."What the hell are you doing?" I heard Wells yell at everyone, halting them. Bellamy glanced over at him, holding back Murphy.

"We're liberating ourselves." Bellamy answered, giving Wells a fairly unaffected look. "What does it look like?"

"It looks like you're trying to get us all killed." Wells replied, surprisingly confident, though his nervous shifting did give him away slightly. I stood from my seated position, but didn't move. Bellamy rolled his eyes slightly and shifted his weight. "The communications system is dead. These wristbands are all we've got. Take them off, and the ark will think we're dying. That it's not safe for them to follow."

"That's the point." Bellamy interrupted, "Chancellor." He added, gaining laughs from the crowd. I rolled my eyes, low blow. Wells jaw twitched slightly. "We can take care of ourselves. Can't we?" Bellamy turned to the crowd slightly, somehow making eye contact with me. The crowd cheered slightly but I just stared back, unchanged. His eyes narrowed for a split second before quickly moving away, a small smile on his face.

"You think this is a game? Those aren't just our friends and our parents up there. They're our farmers, our doctors, our engineers, I don't care what he tells you, we won't survive down here on our own." Wells gazes across the slightly unnerved group. Bellamy gave him an annoyed look. "And besides, if it really is safe, how could you not want to the rest of our people to come down?"

"My people" Bellamy repeated, raising his eyebrows. "Already are down." He gestured to the crowd behind him. "Those people," He point up to the ark in the sky, "locked my people up. Those people locked my mother up for the crime of having a second child. You're father did that."

"My father didn't write the laws." Wells reminded him.

"No. He enforced them. But not any more. Not here. Here there are no laws. Here we do whatever the hell we want whenever the hell we want." There were cheers of agreement. "Now, you don't have to like it Wells, you can even try to stop it, change it, kill me. You know why? Whatever the hell we want."

"Whatever the hell we want!" Murphy roared in agreement, the crowd beginning to chant along. Wells looked around uneasily, the group growing louder and louder. He stared back towards Bellamy and their stares grew intense. I started to move towards them, ready to get Wells out of the shit he had gotten himself into. Suddenly the strangest thing happened. Water droplets, everywhere, hitting my skin softly. Rain. A wide smile broke onto my face and I looked up in shock. It was actually rain. Everyone stopped and looked up as well. Sounds of shock and pure glee everywhere. I looked down again to see Wells saying something, but I couldn't hear it. I slowly walked towards him, touching his arm slightly as he began to back away from Bellamy. He shot his eyes in my direction but soften when he was it was me. I started to lead him away from the crowd, glancing back to see Bellamy's eyes staring intently in our direction. I quickly realised he wasn't giving that look to Wells, he was giving it to me. Great. My plan to stay under the radar wasn't going too well.
