'What!?'
Percy was sitting on his knee, not understanding what just happened.
She'd rejeceted him.
She'd ran away from him.
The crowd was silent. It was already minutes ago since Annabeth went away. But everybody just stood there, uncomfortable, looking down so they didn't need to see Percy's heartbroken face.
'So.. No firework?' Leo broke the silent. Piper, Jason, Frank and Leo gave gim an angry look. It must've triggered something inside Piper because she came towards Percy,'Percy, I -'
Before she could finish her sentence, Percy got mad.
They had do so much for each other. They've been through so much togheter. They saved the other one dozens of times. Annabeth caught a knife for him. He even fell in Tartarus for her. In freaking Tartarus and she just... left him.
Percy made a scream of frustration and stood up. The water fontain behind him exploded. He heard the people yelling. He didn't care.
Suddenly, the earth moved. Everything on the table moved. Even some parts of statues fell of.
He'd caused an earthquake.
As fast as it came, it stopped. Percy fell on his knees and started snobbing.
'It's not fair.' he mumbled.
The crowd stood there even more uncomfortably than before.
The most powerful half-blood of all time was broken.
To everybody's surprises it was Mr. D who went to Percy first.
Percy was still crying, his hands covered his face and he muttered words to himself.
'I'm sorry kid.' Dionysus told him,'but I need to do this to help you.'
Percy was too doleful to react before Dionsysus touched his forehead and used his godish powers to let Percy fall asleep.
His dreams were fuzzy.
He was walking on the beach with Annabeth, telling her their future, when Annabeth suddenly said,'No, I can't.'
When Percy turned around, Annabeth wasn't there anymore. Instead of her, there was a big black hole.
'I'm sorry kid.' he heard behind him. Dionysus touched his fore head and he started falling. Everywhere around him there was Annabeth's face, saying she couldn't marry him. He screamed Annabeth's name, asking her to stop and explain. But he didn't get an answer. He saw an image of Athena, saying he wasn't good enough for her daughter.
Finally, the fall came to his end. He expected the river Cocytus, like when they fell in Tartarus, but instead there was a big blue cake. Percy fell into the pie and he woke up with a shock.
He was laying on his bed. Their bed, actually. That thought made Percy remeber what just happened.
'Raah.' Percy screamed in his pillow, while he punched the wall with his fists.
'Percy, are you awake?' It was Hazel's voice.
Percy stopped hitting the wall and looked at the door. He quickly ran to the door and locked it. He didn't want to see anyone.
'Do you wanne talk about it?' she asked.
'No, go away.'
'Percy, you..' Piper started to say.
'Piper, don't you dare to use charmspeak on me.' Percy said angry.
Piper didn't say a thing after that.
A few minutes later someone knocked on the door.
'Percy, honey.' a familiar voice said.
'Mom?' he'd forgot he'd invited his mother,'I'm sorry.' Percy said, though, he didn't know why.
'Honey, don't apologize. It's not your fault. Let me in and we can talk.'
Percy hestitated but decided to let her in.
'Hey.' Sally walked in and sat down on the bed, next to Percy. Percy was looking down, he was too ashamed to look at his mother.
'Percy, are you alright?' she asked.
'No,' Percy sighed,'No I'm not alright. Mom, the person I loved the most left me. She left me, mother! She ran away!' She just ran away without even saying why she didn't want me.
'Percy, dear, you know something more is going on. Annabeth would never leave you without a good reason. I mean, you guys already loved each other when you were 13 years old.'
'We did not.' Percy protested
'So I think you should get off your lazy ass and go search her.' Sally continued.
Percy thought about it. He knew she was right. Annabeth wasn't the kind of person who ran away without a good reason. Or she just doesn't love him anymore or serious stuff was going on.
'Peeeerrcy.' Grover came in.
'I'll leave you guys alone,' she looked at Percy,'you'd better go search her.' and walked the room out.
Percy finally felt better again. He had a new quest. Not a quest to help the gods, but a quest for himself. He needed to find Annabeth.
'..so I asked the nymps to look if they could find her,'Percy hadn't realized Grover had start talking to him,'and a few tree nymps told me they saw her close to Los Angeles.'
'What?,' Percy stood up,'that's amazing! Come on! Let's find her! But..,' Percy hestitated,'what if she ran away because she really doesn't want to be with me?' Percy sat down on the bed again, full with feels of doubt.
'Peeeercy,' he bleated,'please don't say things like that. You and Annabeth were made for each other! Didn't you see how she cried when she ran away.'
'Well, yeah.' Percy said.
'C'mon man!' Grover gave Percy a punch on the shoulders,'we're leaving in 15 minutes.' He stood up.
'We?' Percy asked.
'Well, I thought.. Because we both know Annabeth the best..' when he saw Percy looking at him Grover looked at his hooves,'It's okay, you can go with one of your other friends.' he mumbled,'I'll ask the nymps if they know anymore of Annabeth's location.' Grover walked to the door.
'No, Grover, wait!' Percy stood up 'I do wanne go with you, I was just surprised that you had time.. You know, with you being the Lord of the Wild. I'd love to go on another quest with you.' Percy smiled.
'Oh Percy.' Grover ran towards him and hugged him. Percy started laughing.
'I'll get Thalia and we leave whenever you're ready.'
Percy was embrassed walking through New Rome. Every single person knew what happened, because most if them were there when it happened. The people gave him looks like 'I'm sorry'.
Percy sighed reliefed when he saw Grover.
He ran towards him.
'Hey man, we can go. How are we even going?'
Grover grinned and pointed at three motors.
'No way.' Percy smirked and looked at those babies. He'd always wanted to drive cool motors like those. They reminded him at the one that Ares had, that god was not a happy thought but his motor, that had looked dang good.
'Ready?' Thalia was standing next to Percy.
Percy grinned. He thought about that time when Annabeth got missed and Thalia, Grover and he went searching for her. (and two huntress to save Artemis, which was the main quest blah blah blah)
'Ready.'
