Fumbling around in my suitcase for something to wear, I swore under my breath, words that I am most certainly not proud to repeat out loud. Considering the fact that I am a lady and not a sailor or truck driver. I didn't anticipate getting invited out to dinner by anyone, let alone someone as hot as Lorenzo Alvarez. The small voice in the back of my head nagged that this dinner arrangement was a huge mistake.
No good will come from mixing business with pleasure. Just as I yanked my emerald green dress out my suitcase, my cellphone began ringing. "Hey Kam." I answered, while holding the dress in front of me before the mirror. "Is everything ok?" Ugh, this is the best it's going to get considering my limited wardrobe selection.
"Hey Ava, everything here is fine. How did it go?" My best friend Kammie asked. I paused briefly for a moment wondering if I should confess what actually happened or whether or not I should play it down. Knowing how close Kammie and I are, she'll know I'm lying even before I open my mouth to say anything at all.
"It didn't go so well, we still have a few bumps we need to iron out before proceeding with the merger. Looks like I'll be here for a couple more days." I huffed, trying to yank my dress on, while balancing the phone between my ear and shoulder. Definitely not an easy task.
"See any hot guys over there?" Kam joked, but it caused me to stop what I was doing and gasp. I looked around the room, suddenly feeling exposed, like she was spying on me somehow. "What are you doing?" Kam asked with a chuckle, her voice filled with curiosity.
Letting out a chuckle, I shook my head at my own silliness. "If you need to know, I'm getting dressed for a dinner date with Lorenzo." I answered matter of factly. I mananged to get dressed while talking on the phone and was currently reapplying my makeup. Talk about multi-tasking skills!
"Lorenzo? Who's Lorenzo?" Kammie teased as she dragged out his name. "Really Ava, really? You've been there less than twelve hours and you already managed to land yourself a dinner date?" She asked incredulously.
Letting out a tired sigh, I responded. "He's the son of Star Corporation's owner and just so happens to be the head of this branch. He invited me out to dinner after our meeting. What was I supposed to say, no?"
"Is he hot? On a scale of one to ten, what would you rate him?" Kammie inquired. Lorenzo Alvarez would have to be way more than a ten, his hotness registered way off the richter scale as far as I'm concerned. "He's gotta be the total package if you're staying this quiet!" She chortled.
A sudden knock at the door had me glancing at the nightstand beside the bed, five fifty-five. Looking through the peephole, I stood completely frozen. He's even more good looking than I remembered, crap he's hot and puctual. I whisper shrieked into the phone. "I have to go Kam, he's here to pick me up! I'll call you later when I get back."
"Fine, but I expect a picture of him sent to my phone by the end of the night Avangeline!" Kammie screamed into the receiver before I swiftly pushed the end button cutting off anything else she may have wanted to say.
Smoothing out the front of my dress, I whipped open the door. Standing there before me was perfection dressed in a pair of gray slacks and a white button up shirt. His sleeves were pushed up to his elbows for a more casual look and the top few buttons were undone showing off the smooth plains of his tan muscular chest. In his hand was a bouquet of beautiful roses that he immediately handed to me.
"Hi." I greeted breathlessly. "They're beautiful, thank you. Ready to go?"
"Hi, you're welcome, you look amazing by the way." He complimented with a heartbreakingly handsome smile. "Are you sure you're ready to go? I apologize for being early. I guess I got a little excited about dinner." Lorenzo admitted sheepishly as his eyes glanced down to my feet.
