I lead the way back down the hall toward my office with the assumption that Lorenzo is following closely behind me. I assume correctly as the delicious scent of his cologne drifts in and out of my senses. Just the thought of being alone with Lorenzo behind a closed door, has my body taking a sudden sharp right towards the elevator.

"I figured we'd go down to the coffee shop." I call out over my shoulder as I speed up and begin punching repeatedly on the down button with a closed fist. Nervousness settles in the pit of my belly about being confronted with the irate message I left.

The feel of Lorenzo's warm breath against my ear as he stands extremely too close for comfort startles me. "Coffee sounds fantastic." I can hear the laughter in his voice and picture the smirk tugging at his lips at my uneasiness.

The elevator doors open allowing us to step on alone and then close behind us. It was at that very moment that I realized maybe this wasn't the best of ideas. Lorenzo leaned over and pulled the red stop button as soon as the elevator began moving. He backed me into a corner, caging me in with his strong arms on each side of me.

"So Avangeline, what was it that you said again on the voicemail?" He grinned menacingly. Damn he's even hotter now that he's all up in my business. "Something about me being a no good womanizer and you yanking my eyelashes out one by one the next time I'm close enough for you to see them?"

I threw my hands forward in defense, but they only landed on his very muscular chest. Running my hands up and down, I didn't realize that I was inadvertently copping a feel on the man. "Look, I apologize for what I may have said, I don't remember any of it really. You can't blame me, for any actions that took place when I was completely and wholeheartedly intoxicated."

What is it about this man that turns me into mush? On any given day I could stand up to the harshest of men, but as soon as I get around Lorenzo Alvarez, I lose my backbone! My legs get all weak in the knees and all I can think about is how sexy he is.

Lorenzo quirked an eyebrow and licked his lips, his eyes filling with amusement. "You can ask any woman I've previously dated and they'll tell you I'm far from being a womanizer. Well, that is any woman aside from Sophia." He let out a chuckle, like he just thought of the funniest joke ever. "The two of you seem to agree on at least one thing."

I was extremely confused, not comprehending anything he was saying. Was it me or is it sweltering hot in here? Unbuttoning my blazer I tried to shrug it off in the confined bit of space that Lorenzo allowed me to have, but I wasn't doing a very good job at it. "It's really warm in here." I mumbled incoherently as I tugged the wretched blazer off and held it in my arms.

I cleared my throat and attempted to straighten my stance with as much dignity that one could muster up after drunk dialing the person in front of her. Giving Lorenzo a why are you all up in my face type of look, I let out an impatient sigh. What does he expect me to say?

This seemed to illicit more laughter from Lorenzo. Yea that's right laugh it up buddy. Glad I could be such a great source of entertainment to you. Grade A class riot I am. I scowled at him and attempted to  lean forward to push the stop button back in with no such luck. It was as though a wall was standing in my way as he continued to block my path.

"Just so we're clear, Sophia's not my girlfriend. I took her out to dinner once and she became a stage one clinger." Lorenzo said as his hot gaze traveled from my face, past my neck, and all the way down to the dip of my cami. It literally felt like I was on fire with the way his eyes seared into me. "I'm one hundred percent single."

I could feel my skin heating up as he eyed me hungrily. "O-kay, so you came all this way to tell me that?" I breathed out in barely a whisper.

"Well, yea...I wanted to clear things up. I mean it's what you focused on for four minutes and thirty seconds of your five minute voicemail." Lorenzo let out a boyish shrug, before leaning forward. "That and to do this." He stated as he began closing the distance between us. His eyes immediately drawn to my lips. I'm not going to lie and say my body didn't respond to this man. That I currently wasn't leaning forward and being drawn to him like a magnet.

The shrill sound of the intercom managed to slap some sense into me as I snapped my head backwards. What the hell am I thinking? Getting ready to suck faces with the enemy, boy would I make my Father proud. I successfully managed to bash the back of my head on the wall behind me just as Tony the lobby security guard's voice filled the elevator.

"Hey you, loverboy...how about you back up a couple steps, eh? Ever hear of personal space?" Tony stated, obviously watching us on the elevator cam. Why he waited so long before intervening was beyond me. I'll have to thank him for being my voice of reason. "Don't you worry my beautiful Ava, I've got maintenance on the job. The fire department is on their way too. You should be out of there in a jiffy."

With a dejected scowl, Lorenzo steps away but not before pushing the stop button back into its place. "Thanks Tony, but the fire department won't be necessary." I answer as the elevator started to decend. Thank goodness for that.

When we finally make it down to the second floor, I exit the elevator with the full intention of getting a nice large cup of coffee. Not that I needed the caffeine, my nerves are totally fried. Grateful that I didn't have to face Tony after that embarrassing display, I glance over my shoulder and totally catch Lorenzo checking out my ass.

With no shame in his game, he gives me a crooked smile and extends his hand out as if to say carry on.
"What time should I be back to pick you up?" He asks as we're standing in line.

I had no control over my head as it did a double-take and my facial expression resembled someone who was suffering from severe constipation. "Excuse me?" I asked letting out a loud cackle. Boy, this guy sure has a lot of confidence in himself. "I could've sworn you just asked me what time you should be back to pick me up?"

"Didn't you hear?" Lorenzo asked with a naughty grin. "My father and your father kissed and made up, talks of the merger are to resume tonight at your parent's house. I told your Mom I'd pick you up for dinner at seven on my way over."
