A/N: This story is set in the time of civil war

"James," I called out, walking through the smal motel room we had slipped into a couple weeks ago.

James, also known as the Winter Soldier and I have been on the run ever since S.H.I.E.L.D fell about 2 years ago. We've gone from state to state and from country to country. We can never be in the same place for more than a couple of weeks because he's a wanted man.

The Winter Soldier, not James. Which means we'll be moving soon.

"Here," James replied from across the hall.

I walked down the hall to find James with two back packs and a bunch of essentials in front of him.

Ah. So we were moving soon.

I walk to him and come up by his side so he can see me. He's jumpy and has almost hurt me when I've accidently walked up behind him quietly.

He knows someone is there, he just doesn't know who. It's not his fault.

James would never hurt a fly unless it was necessary.

"When are we leaving?" I asked, walking to the other side of the kitchen table and waiting for him to look at me.

He finally does, lifting his head and eyes to meet mine.

"Later this afternoon," He replied, looking back down and splitting the essentials between both bags.

I smile sadly and nod, even though he can't see me. It's sad, I've grown fond of this little place and Romania.

"I'm in need of some more plums, I'm going down to the market to grab some." I say, walking back around the table past James but he stops me.

His flesh arm wraps around my wasit and stops me in my steps.

"Wait just a minute, I'll come with you." He says as he holds his arm in place around my waist and finishes the bags.

I smile and lean down to kiss his forehead. His arm around my waist tightens.

"Alright, let's go." James stands up and drops his arm from around my waist as he walks to the door and grabs my jacket and his from the hooks on the wall.

James and I walked the streets of Bucharest, Romania arm in arm with our bags of plums.

I'm a sucker for plums, they're delicious and I can never get enough of them. James, feels almost the same way about them.

We go to cross the road but a car pulls out from nowhere and James pulls me back.

"Oh shit," I gasp.

"Idiot," James mutters and I know it wasn't towards me.

When we finally see the road is clear we cross and we find a stand with newspapers.

James stiffens, his biceps tenses under my hands and he looks straight forward towards the newspaper stand.

"James?" I ask, trying to get his attention.

He walks and I quickly follow, my arm still holding onto him. The guy in the stand stumbles out and runs, yelling something in Romanian.

James' head snaps up in his direction as he grabs a paper and reads the news. I don't get to see the picture or what the words spell out but James grabs my hand and we walk as fast as we can back towards the hotel.

"James, what's happening?" I ask, slowly going into a panic.

He's never acted like this before. This isn't good.
