The deep, loud bass felt as though it were in the floor. Bright neon colours danced around the dance floor, bodies against each other and the smell of cheap perfume and sweat. This is the place she was usually seen at, it didn't seem like a great place to hang out at all the time but she felt comfort here, in the alcohol, in the people, who had no idea who she was; they just knew not to approach her unless she approached you. She sat at the bar ordering a drink of the strongest alcoholic beverage they had.

"Can I have a whiskey and coke please?!" A tall, young boy shouted over the music to the bartender. he looked around 20, had a nose piercing on the right side of his nose, dark hair, light eyes that held so much emotion, defined cheekbones, a jawline that could cut glass, skinny legs clad in black jeans, white t-shirt that hung of his muscular back, a look of mischief in his eyes and a smirk on his lips. Overall he was hot. She thought she recognised him but just couldn't put her finger on it.

He looked over at her and recognition flashed through his eyes. "Hey, you're that girl that bumped into me earlier." He stated in a deep voice that was like rich chocolate. She looked at him a small smirk on her lips.

"You mean you bumped into me? You were the one not looking where you were going." She said as she sipped on her drink.

"Right..." He said in a sarcastic sense. he took that moment to take her in. she wore a black dress with a plunging neckline, showing cleavage, it went to mid-thigh, showing off her long legs, black heeled boots, eyes blackened by makeup, long brown hair down her back reaching her waist and luscious, full lips that were coated in a scarlet red, making them look even more inviting. "I'm River." He introduced himself after a pause.

"And I'm gone." She got up to leave.

"Well that can't be your real name." River followed after her.

"No, you don't say." she shouted sarcastically behind her to river, weaving in and out of people. she stopped in the middle of the dance floor letting her body flow with the music. River grinding up against her.

"Well then what's your real name?" He shouted to her ear over the deafening music, his hands on her hips. She stopped moving, stepped away from his arms and began weaving in and out of the crowd of people again, River followed almost losing her in the sea of bodies. He didn't know why he was so determined to get her name, she intrigued him in some way. Maybe it was because she had a mischievous yet sad look in her eyes or how she looked as though he were annoying her.

She reached the exit and proceeded outside into the cool air of the night, the music not as loud. On the way out she had picked up a black leather jacket that was now hung from her shoulders and stopped a few inches above her hips. She kept walking until the music was only a dull thump in the background, River still on her heels. She suddenly turned around, perfectly groomed eyebrows raised expectantly.

"Why are you following me?" She asked.

"I wanna know your name." River explained.

" How about we race to the park, if you win you can know. Go!" She quickly set off in the directions of the park. River taking a few moments to realise what she had said. He then took off too. She was quite a ways ahead of him and he wondered how she could have got that far in heels, he had heard it was hard. River was gaining on her.

Four steps,

three steps,

two steps,

and as the were just about to go through the gate River caught her and they tumbled to the ground. They lay their for a in a heap for a few minutes and she started to laugh which then caused river to laugh.

"So, what is your name?" River asked after the laughter died down.

She paused a few moments, "Lilac."

"That's your real name?" He looked over at her, eyebrows raised and a small smile on his lips.

"No." she said then added, " it's a nickname."

"at least it's something."

"And by the way, I never said I liked you." she stated.

"Neither did I."

They then sat on the swings and talked the night away. And by the time they decided to go home, River had decided that he did like her. he walked her home to her house, their steps in sync with each other.

When she reached her door, she retrieved her keys from her jacket and unlocked the door, " I still don't like you," she murmured quietly in case of waking her family up.

"And neither do I," river replied, yet there was no truth behind his words.

"See you later river."

"See you later Lilac."
