Sam was still standing in The Waterside basement parking lot staring at Ammu's abandoned Mercedes while laughing at their fathers' Johor Bahru rebellion photos.
He smirked. Then looked at her car again. Then at his own Audi. Then back at her car. And a thought entered his head so suddenly that even he paused, an absolute mischevious thought.
Entirely impulsive thought. Very unlike him. Which probably meant Ammu was becoming a problem. His fingers moved before logic could interfere.
Sam: What are you doing right now?
Three dots appeared immediately.
Ammu: Appa stole my baby girl (my car) so I stole his packet of Malaysian Airlines signature peanuts.
He laughed.
Sam: Be ready in thirty minutes.
Then-
Ammu: For?
Sam: I'm taking you out.
A much longer pause this time. Then...
Ammu: ...like a date?
His smile deepened.
Sam: You are surprisingly intelligent.
Her reply came instantly.
Ammu: EXCUSE ME?
Ammu: You cannot ask me on a date and insult me in the same breath.
Sam: I just did. Perks of having your best friend as boyfriend. #BestBoyfriend you see.
Ammu: I hate you.
Sam: No you don't.
Ammu: ...what do I wear?
That made his entire expression soften. He leaned against her car and typed slower.
Sam: Anything you feel beautiful in.
The typing bubble disappeared.
Reappeared. Disappeared again.
Then finally-
Ammu: Why would you say that so casually.
Then typed:
Sam: Because it's true.
No response. And somehow that told him exactly what her face looked like right now.
Flustered.
Panicking.
Probably glaring at her phone.
Sam: Forty minutes, Ammu.
Ammu: Fine.
Ammu: Don't be late.
Ammu stared at her phone in complete disbelief. Leela looked up from the dining table.
"Why do you look like someone proposed again?" Ammu blinked rapidly.
"No one proposed again." Leela narrowed her eyes.
"That was not a normal answer."
Ammu stood abruptly. "I need to get ready."
"For?"
