Chapter Three

Well after that conversation I really did go to bed. In the morning Tasha woke me up and tried to send me to school.

"I'm not going."

"Toni," she said in a warning tone.

"Talk to your boss if you have a problem with it. Fury sent them to New York to give me time to build a suit." I crossed my arms smugly.

Tasha could only frown.

I smiled and pulled out my phone to warn Abi I was skipping.

A: Why?

T: Talked Tasha into letting me stay.

A: Lololol Cool see ya tonight genius :)

T: Yup :)

"Okay, I'll be back later."

"I'm going with you, of course."

"Why?"

"Pepper would have my head if anything happened to you. I'll stay out of your way, let you disobey your parents, but I'm goin with you."

I had my file of drawings in hand as we headed for the garage. I decided to take my car with such precious documents.

I looked over all of my designs a few more times before I began building my suit. A very secret building process continued for hours without pause.

By the time it was time to leave I barely had the skeleton of what it would be made. But the next day it would start to come together better.

I locked up and drove home, putting my papers back in the safe and going to cook dinner. I decided that Abi and I would be fine with cereal. Definitely inherited dad's cooking skills.

When Abi showed up we sat down for cereal with Tasha.

"How was your day, genius?"

I shrugged. "Fine. And you, gorgeous?"

"Bllluuuugghh!"

I laughed at her.

"But you will be there tomorrow right?"

"Actually, both of my parents went to New York, so I'm just going to stay home."

She frowned. "Are you okay?"

"Sure, why wouldn't I be?"

"You're not one to skip school much, and I know it bugs you when your parents go without you."

"Yeah... But I'm okay, Abs. I'm building a robot in my dad's forbidden lab, so it all works out."

"And when they get back? They'll probably find out that you skipped."

"I'll be in major trouble." I smiled. "But it's worth it."

"Good luck girly." We 'cheers'ed our spoons. "Hey that Stark thing is on tonight. Wanna watch it?"

Internal sigh. I shrugged. "Sure, why not?"

"Maybe Iron Man will be there," she said happily.

"When is he not?" I laughed. Seemed he was in New York half the time, and in his lab half the time he was home. I barely ever saw him and when I did he didn't see me, he was preoccupied with his company, or some S.H.I.E.L.D message, or just plain ignoring me...

Abi and I sat down at the couch and I turned the TV to the best channel--note the sarcasm--Stark TV. Where you got to watch a lot of "How it's Made: Stark Edition"(Nothing big or secretive just self recharging small batteries, and the all time favorite: New and improved hover craft able to hover ten inches above the ground); old interviews with my mom or dad or both, and some with Howard Stark my grandfather. And on days like that one: Tony Stark back in his suit to show off with over twenty dancing girls behind him.
