Shelby immediately runs over to me, after setting Charlie down of course, and rushes me to her car. "Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh." She repeats over and over again. She starts driving and she talks to a few people on the phone.
"Yeah, her water broke... What do I do?!.. Okay, okay. Bye."
"Who'd you call?" I ask her once I think she's finished. I break out into a sweat, and my breathing becomes uneven.
"First Austin, then Ken, and finally Kate. She's bringing the boys, and Austin is already on his way." She says, breaking out into a sweat of her own.
We finally make it to the hospital, what feels like, an hour later. Austin suddenly runs out the front doors pushing an empty wheelchair towards us. Shelby rushes out and around to me, helping me out of the car.
Austin eases me into the chair, and pushes me inside the front two doors. A nurse is ready for me and she takes the wheelchair from Austin immediately.
She pushes me into a room calmly, sending Austin and Shelby reassuring smiles on the way.
Once we reach our room, the nurse gives me a gown to slip into. Afterwards, I am put into a bed just when the boys walk in with Kate behind them.
"Nicole! You're having the baby!" Caden yells.
"Wow, I never would've guessed." Kate says sarcastically.
"What's wrong with you?" I ask her.
"She got into a fight with Wyatt." Tommy says mindlessly while playing with a tool from the doctor's desk.
"Tommy, put that away!" Shelby says from behind him. He turns around to face her and sets it down with a roll of the eyes.
Sean suddenly walks into the already crowded room with a sheepish smile. "Am I too late?"
"Nope." I say with a cheeky grin.
The nurse walks in and looks at the room. She lets out a small apologetic smile. "We shouldn't have too many people in the room. Only one or two are recommended." She says.
I immediately point to Sean and Austin. It's the best choice since Sean'll help me with the contractions and Austin's the father.
The rest of the group leaves, Caden and Tommy grumbling about not being my first choice on the way out.
"About seven centimeters, so only three to go until you're ready to push. Here are some pain meds and I'll be right back with ice chips." She leaves the room quickly after laying some medicine on the table beside me.
Austin sits on my left with Sean on my right. Austin makes a move to get up before an intense pain hits my stomach. My hand grabs for Austin's, forcing him to sit back down, and Sean's for support.
I break out into an even worse sweat and I take in uneven breaths as my stomach throbs in pain.
When the pain finally dulls down, my hands release the two on either side of me. I look over to see Sean staring at his pale hand in shock as the blood has drained from it. His mouth is dropped open with his eyes just as wide as his mouth.
"Sorry, I had to help another patient-" the nurse stops once she sees my tired state. "I am so sorry. Here's some ice chips. It won't take the pain away but it will help the sweating." She says with an apologetic smile.
She walks out after I eagerly take the meds, swallowing them down easily.
I look over to my other side to see Austin roaming the room. He opens drawers and cabinets, peeking inside and poking around.
