The leaves were orange. Not green, but orange. And these orange crusty leaves blew on the messy streets of Remirda Town. This could have only meant one thing, it was fall. It was October. October 15th for the kids of Remirda Town.

Arch Littleton walked on the quiet streets, while not realizing he has stomped on a pile of leaves. It has been three months since all the adults died from the disease, and he was hungry. Arch could think nothing else but food.

Back in July, the town had all the food supplies they needed. They had been sufficient. But as August and September drifted by, food began to deplete. Kids were beginning to steal them. Now it was October, and they were very close to nothing. Food was scarce to have now. Due to the fact that Doug and Don had passed the law that if any kid stole anymore food, they would be beheaded. Yes, beheaded.
Now if kids wanted to steal food from stores or anywhere else, they would have to think twice.

Arch wasn't the mayor anymore. They had re-elected a new mayor back in September. And it was a seventeen year old boy named Jonathan. Jonathan Strides. Arch found Mayor Jonathan to be okay. But most kids in Remirda Town didn't. They believed he hadn't done a good job in being mayor. That he hadn't done a good job in keeping their food safe.
But could Arch blame Jonathan? He was doing all he could.

Arch walked on the cobblestone path to Emmer's house. He needed some food, and he was going to get some. Wilmer's Pizza Grill was the place. The perfect place. It was one of the few places Doug hadn't banished. So it was safe to eat there.

Arch knocked on Emmer's door.

A scrawny boy with black glasses received it.

"What's up Arch? I haven't seen you in two days, what're you up to?" His voice had gotten deeper.

Arch sighed.
"I've been around. Town's gotten pretty weak hasn't it?"

"Sure has." Emmer complied.

Ellie popped up behind Emmer.
"Whatchya up to?"

"Just talking." Emmer said.

Arch could feel his stomach rumble and rumble on. He was getting more and more hungry. And with hunger, came weakness.

"I was thinking," Arch said. "Wilmer's Pizza Grill isn't far from here. Would you guys like to grab a bite?"

Emmer took out his wallet and smiled.
"Right ahead of you dude,"

The three friends walked off of Emmer's front steps and strolled off into the leaf filled street.
