Seeing Fareedah ease into what we shared only made me happier to have her in my life. Things had been slowly progressing, and that was all that really mattered to me. We had our slow days, but each day, I could see her put in the effort to stay. She was actively trying to be there for herself and me, and seeing her fall in love with who she truly was made me absolutely happy.
It was a Saturday, and Fareedah was still so happy about her birthday gift. She kept saying it was the best birthday gift she had ever received, after me. And, honestly, that gladdened my heart. "Should we go to the movies today?" I asked her, as we had been sitting in one place almost all day, busy with our phones.
She sat up over the idea, smiling widely as she said, "Perfect Idea."
I chuckled at her reaction as I sat up as well. "EbonyLife?" I asked with a smile, causing her to nod.
"Let me go change so we can go now."
"Let's check what they will show."
"Omo, don't worry, we will watch what we see when we get there."
I squinted as I replied, "And what if we don't like what is showing?"
She got up, and as she began to walk towards her room, she said, "It's all about the experience, Baby, not the movie itself."
I chuckled as I responded, "Combination."
She smiled as she disappeared into her room.
Soon after, she came back out dressed in a long, deep-purple bodycon dress and black platforms. Her braids down, while she lined her lips with a purple pencil, added a pink lipstick, and gloss. Words could never be able to do her beauty justice. She looks ethereal. She chuckled awkwardly at my stunned look as she said, "Do I really look that good?"
"Honestly, words can never describe," I managed to say, blinking so I didn't want it to seem like I was exaggerating. But it was hard to exaggerate the truth.
She smiled as she walked to me, leaning in to give me a gentle kiss on my lips as she said, "Words can never do you justice as well."
I smiled as I gently pulled her face with my right hand, steadying her to give her an actual kiss. "You flatter me," I said as I got up. I was dressed in a ginger tank top, black joggers, black socks and black Crocs. I had my rings on and my hoop earrings.
"Flattery ceases to exist, where the truth is." She chuckled as we both made our way down to the car.
I shook my head, letting her slip her right hand around my left hand. "The truth only applies to you," I tried to argue.
She shook her head vehemently, not backing down from her argument, which tipped me off that there was no winning. "When I said the truth exists where you are, then it does."
I laughed, letting the argument die down as we got into the car. I redirected the conversation to another end as she drove out of the compound.
It was a really chatty ride to the cinema, as we had the radio playing slow evening tunes, while we chatted animatedly about everything and anything. I couldn't help the wide smile my lips would spread into, realising how relaxed she had gotten around me. Telling me the little details and every detail.
