Fading Away (AFI Fanfic)

Meetup in a Coffeeshop

I was currently standing in a crowded Starbucks in New York. There were many people here who didn't look safe. In the past week there had been three girls my age that went missing within this area. I was always scared to go out but I had to, so I thought I might as well get a nice coffee to warm me up in this horrible weather.

I went to the back of the terribly long line and pulled out my phone while I was waiting. I pushed the home button and the screen came to life with many notifications from my social media. As I unlocked the phone and scrolled through the media, I saw from the corner of my eye a blue-eyed boy staring at me. He had tons of girls asking him for pictures and I thought it was strange. I finally looked up to see him more clearly and I recognized him to be the one and only Luke Hemmings. I went to school with him and we used to be pretty close, but I haven't seen him because of his band. They were 5 Seconds Of Summer. There were four of them including Luke. There was Luke, Michael, Calum, and Ashton. They all dropped out of school for their band and it worked out well for them. They are now a huge hit.

He still had the same style he did before he left. He was wearing the ripped black skinny jeans and the plaid button down with a tee under. This was the typical wardrobe for almost all four of the boys. He had gotten a lip ring though and he was nervously biting on it while the girls surrounded him asking for pictures. He had always been a shy kind of guy with not many friends except for me and the rest of the boys. He still seemed shy especially with girls surrounding him. He tried to escape but still stopped for a couple of girls. I went back to looking at my phone when I realized I had been staring. I noticed the line had moved too so I moved up.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. Of course it was the boy who I hadn't seen in ages. "Anna?" he asked. "Yes. Mr. Hemmings it is I," I responded. He pulled me into his embrace for a hug and I never felt happier. "I missed you so much," he whispered. I could see all the girls' faces drop when they saw us. It was quite funny to think that they could be jealous of me. He let go of me and I said, "I missed you too. It's been so long." "I know. Six months," he sighed. It was finally my turn to order and I stepped up and told the barista my drink. I went to grab my wallet from my pocket, but Luke beat me to it. He added the drinks he needed to the order and paid for all of them. "Hey. You just cut and you didn't need to pay for me," I said. He responded, "Yeah but I didn't feel like waiting and there's no law against me paying for you."

I smiled at his sweet gesture. We then waited for our drinks and talked for a while. He talked about how tour was fun but exhausting. They were currently on tour with One Direction. Louis had found their cover of teenage dirt bag and contacted them. They met up and soon they got the offer and they couldn't pass it up. They now have gotten insanely popular since the tour. He asked me how I was and I just told him about how my family was and school. Everything had pretty much been the same except that I had four less friends than usual.

Our drinks had been made and Luke's name was called. We grabbed our drinks and made our way out of the crowded coffee shop. Luke opened the door and I felt the cold air pierce my skin. I saw the car parked in the front with the boys. I guess they didn't want to get down and made Luke go. I first saw Michael. When he saw me his eyes had practically popped out his head. I heard him screaming at Ashton to let him out the car. He opened the door and ran with arms wide open. I was bombarded by the giant Michael Clifford. He wrapped his arms around me and squeezed me until I couldn't breathe any longer. "Michael. Can't. Breathe." He let go out me and said, "Sorry. It's just been so long. I missed you so much Anna Banana." He was the only person I knew that called me Anna Banana and I thought it was really adorable the way he said it. Calum had then jumped out the car and ran for a hug too. I'm glad Luke had grabbed my coffee for me because it would've been all over my outfit by now from all of these hugs. Ashton was the last to come out the car and he was the only one I was worried about hugging.

Flashback

Ashton and I were sitting in the kitchen playing around and the boys were in the living room. All of a sudden the lights went out. By the time they came back on Ashton was gone.

"ASHTON! WHAT'S GOING ON," I screamed. He said even though I couldn't see him, "Follow the note on the fridge." I thought it was strange but I went along. I followed the note and it read, "Look for the boys and they will lead you." I looked around for the boys and I found Luke. He was dressed in a suit. He linked his arm with mine and said, "Follow me my lady." "Is anyone going to explain what's going on?" I asked. He just smiled at me. We walked upstairs into the guest bedroom where I found my best friend Cassie. "Cassie? What's going on?" I asked. She said, "Don't worry let's just get you ready." I noticed that a beautiful dress was laid out and there was a curling iron plugged in. I guess I was on a date? I just let her help get ready quickly so I could find out what was going on sooner.

We finished my hair and makeup and I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked really good. I wondered what was going on because I was dressed really fancy. I walked out the door to find Michael waiting also in a suit. "Wow. You are beautiful. Ashton will probably be drooling when he sees you." All I did was laugh at his remark and let him take me through the hallway down the stairs. When I got down the stairs I saw Calum with his mouth wide open. I just laughed at him and noticed that he was a wearing a suit too. "You are beautiful." I just smiled at him and he linked his arm with mine. "Well let's go find your man." He brought me outside and I looked to see a table. It was lit with candles and a path led to the table which was made of flower petals. I thought this was really adorable and I had a feeling that some question was going to be asked tonight.

I finally saw Ashton come out with a suit and his hair fixed nice. He pulled out a chair from the table for me to sit and I gladly did. He pushed me in and then sat in his seat. It was beautiful outside. It was right at sunset and the sun glimmered off the pool which made it even better. Calum had gone back inside and left us two to ourselves even though I knew the boys were probably watching from the window like the nosy boys they are. Ashton finally spoke up, "So what do you think?" I smiled and responded, "Ashton, this is so amazing."

I would've continued but Luke and Michael came out with covered dishes. I heard music start and they danced with the plates in their hands and danced all the way to table. It was funny to see them try and dance. They finally made it to the table and they uncovered some steaks for me and Ashton. They looked delicious so I dug right in. We finished eating after a while and Ashton pulled me out of my chair and said, "Hit it!" I heard music start again and Ashton pulled me close to dance. You could tell he had been practicing which I thought was extremely adorable. We were still dancing and then he said, "Anna, we've been hanging out a lot lately and I've found myself falling for you. I really like you and I was wondering. Would you be my girlfriend?" I immediately stopped dancing and pulled him in a hug. "Yes Ashton! I would love to be your girlfriend." He pulled away and did his extremely cute giggle and then I heard some upbeat music come on and all the boys came out screaming with joy. We all danced for the rest of the night outside. I will never forget that night.

End of flashback

I couldn't believe I was back in Ashton's arms. I felt so secure and safe again. We broke up before he left for tour. We both didn't want to, but we both knew that long distance wouldn't work. So we broke up and we haven't talked since he left. "Anna, you don't know how much I've fucking missed you." "Ashton, I know how you feel." We both stayed hugging for a little while and the boys started making kissy noises in the background. I couldn't believe they were back. Or were they? They probably weren't finished with tour yet which meant they would have to leave again. Oh why did this have to happen? I knew this was no good but I missed them so much.
