Chapter 4

Hailey's Pov:

*conference room*

"Okay ask away" I said acting cool. "Why did your step father want to kill your brother?" DiNozzo asked. I shrugged. "You know Hailey, I'm positive we know why. You just have to confirm it" Kate told me. "If you know, then I can leave. Correct?" I asked. Both shook their heads. "Nope. We still need to hear it from you" Kate said. "Don't you want to catch the person who took your brother from you?" DiNozzo questioned. I held back tears, but nodded.

"My mother got married to a man named James Bundy when I was 5" I started. They both nodded, saying to go on. "The night after they got back from their honeymoon, James came home drunk. He took off his belt and kept smacking me with it. Saying I was a bitch. My mother saw what he was doing. I thought she was gonna stop him, but she helped him. She watched in enjoyment as he tortured me my whole life. Watched him rape me. A week ago my brother found out. He was  gonna tell the police. That's why James shot him" I explained as tears fell down my face.

"Hailey, I'd hate to ask, but why didn't you tell anyone?" Kate asked quietly. I shook my head at her stupidity. "What was I suppose to do? Tell someone I lost my virginity unwillingly at age 5? That James who's a respected man in the community, was actually a horrible person? Who would've believed me! They would use the excuse of I had an active imagination" I ranted. "Hailey come with me. We can get a snack from the vending machine" DiNozzo suggested changing the subject. Hallelujah!!!!!! I stood up quickly. We went and I got Oreos. "What was your brother like?" DiNozzo randomly asked. I raised my eyebrow and then thought.

"Ben was a lot like you. He loved food, a big flirt, annoying at times, but loyal and protective" I explained thinking about my older brother. "So that means you like me?" He questioned as we sat at his desk. I shrugged. "Sure DiNozzo, Sure" I muttered. He laughed. I quietly nibbled on the Oreos.

"Hey kid, you know everyone here loves you. Your kinda like a combination of all of us" he commented. I smiled. "Nah, I'm just myself" I reminded him. "Nah your like us" Kate said and sat down next to Tony.
