I've always been taught to tell the truth no matter what. But what if the truth would cause much more problems than a lie? What if the truth will set off much more problems ?

"So, what're you gonna do," Freddie asked, bringing me back to earth.

"I don't know, this type of thing can really screw up a family," I replied.

"I know," he said with a sad expression on his face, urging my curiosity to speak out.

"What did happen to you, Freddie?"

He turned his face toward the window, afraid to make eye contact. "A couple of my brother's new friends got drunk and ran me over. He hasn't seen me since, too afraid of how I'd react," he confessed.

"Do you want him to come?"

"He's my brother, of course I'd want him to come. I wouldn't blame him for something he didn't even do."

"Do you think I should rat on my brother?"

"If he did something like that to you over a girl, either that girl's really special or you and your brother have two very definitions of family."

Freddie's advice circled in my brain.

"I must be the most indecisive person on the planet because I still didn't know what to do," I told him.

"Or maybe you're just a good person who doesn't know who to protect this time. You or your brother?"

Maybe Riley and I did have two different definitions of family. Maybe he thought that family was something you could just hurt and expect to be there when you need them.

I had finally decided what to do, and I wouldn't let anyone, especially the guy who got me here, change my choice.
