The two boys were woken up but the loud ringing of bells that morning. They had slept in Gray's appartement on the center of Magnolia since Natsu's house was even more of a mess than otherwise with Gray moving in. But this wasn't just normal ringing. "Gildarts is back!" Natsu shouted happily as he stumbled out of bed and into the bathroom to get ready.
Gray didn't even have to think why Natsu was so excited. He had been waiting for this day ever since they formed a couple. He had told Gray that he couldn't get into a serious relation with him until he had Gildarts' blessing for them. This was his last chance if he wanted to ask before they were normally going to live together. He had known that Gildarts was like a father for Natsu after Igneel had disappeared and fully understood it. Natsu had said that he promised Gildarts to tell him when he finally got 'a man' by having a relation.
Natsu stumbled out of the bathroom. His hair wasn't gelled and a mess, his clothes weren't done right and he was still hopping as if he needed to pee. "Natsu. Gildarts can wait a little. He won't leave until he saw you. Go get ready for real now.", Gray commanded him and Natsu went back into the bathroom again.
When he came out this time he was ready. Gray quickly got ready but when he got out he spotted a little not on the table. "Couldn't wait anymore. Left for the guild already.". Typical Natsu.
Natsu ran into the guild and spotted Gildarts "Gildarts, fight me.", he yelled and jumped at the older wizard. He threw Natsu against the ceiling without even using magic and Natsu smiled. Gray arrived not much later and spotted Natsu talking to Gildarts.
"Hey Gildarts. Can I talk to you in private this afternoon?", Natsu asked. Gildarts nodded and responded "Sure. I'll meet you at our fishing spot.", he told Natsu and walked through a wall "I'll see you there this afternoon.", he still yelled and walked through Magnolia to his house.
That afternoon
Natsu was waiting at the fishing spot for Gildarts. He had waited for this moment from the moment he And Gray became a couple. He was a bit scared though. What if Gildarts was grossed out by him...
Gildarts walked through the bushes and sat down next to Natsu. "So boy. Tell me.", he said waiting for Natsu to start telling the important thing he had to say in private. "Well... You told me to tell you when I got into a relation... So...", Natsu started nervously.
"Did you finally find yourself a girlfriend Natsu. Is she beautiful, do I know her? Do you really love her?", Gildarts asked a bit too enthusiastic. Just like Natsu saw Gildarts as his second father after Igneel, Gildarts had always seen Natsu as the son he never had.
"You know him. And I truly love him.", Natsu answered, a little bit afraid fro Gildarts' reaction.
"A boy?", Gildarts questioned the pink haired fire mage. Natsu nodded and looked down. Gildarts hit his back as he said "Who is he. Do I really know him." just as happy for him as he was before. Natsu looked up with newfound enthusiasm and started telling about Gray.
"Gray... Isn't that the raven haired boy you always were fighting. I remember you telling me you hated him.", Gray learns asked confused.
"Yeah. But I really love him. Are you really okay with that?",Natsu asked timidly. He was surprised when suddenly Gildarts hugged him "Of course I am. As long as you're happy with your decision, I'm happy for you too.", Gildarts answered. Natsu smiled and enjoyed the warm embrace of the older wizard a little bit longer.
They walked together to the guild while talking. It was fun. When the doors opened Gray looked at Natsu and Natsu nodded. Gray ran up to him and embraced Natsu. Natsu hugged back and pressed a kiss on the ice mage's lips. Gildarts ruffled his head as he saw how happy he was and smiled. He really had grown up to become a nice guy...
