This book may not be imitated in any way. We all have wonderful imaginations to create our own ideas. I'd really like for people to read my works. Thank you!

"Dale, please! Just let me out for one second! I need some fresh air!"
Dale's blue eyes stared into mine. He gave me that look. The 'don't-go-there' look.
"You need fresh air?" Dale asked.
"Ye-"
"Open the windows." He cut off.
"I have been opening those damn windows for air as long as I can remember! Why can't you let me out of that door?! Please. It's not like I'm going to wander off. I'll stand at the doorway with you."
"No. You ask me this all of the time. How many times do I have to tell you?! No! No! No! I won't allow it. You stay inside." I've been longing for Dale to change his mind. I never remembered stepping out of this cottage.
As tears traveled down my cheeks, Dale gave a sigh. "Look, Sarah. I know that curiosity is filling your head right now. I get it. You want to see the outside. The woods. But you know why. You know better. I've told you ever since I've saved you and brought you into my protection."
*
I couldn't go outside. Ever. Dale said that he would always show me "the way". He said that he was a friend of my parents. They had ran into trouble and told Dale to care for me. My parents were wanted. Dale was willing to protect me. No matter what.
He said that anyone could be after me. I had to be in hiding. Dale would go to town and bring us what we needed. I would stay in the cottage and cook, organize, and sit. Bored. Staring out of a window. Looking out at trees. Leaves. I would get so excited to see an animal. Those were marvelous.
Dale knows a lot about animals. He hunts in the woods and sells the creatures in town. Whenever he goes to town, the door is locked. Just in case an intruder comes in. Dale tells me about everything I ask.
Sometimes I have dreams about other people. People looking down at me. But they're faces are blurry.
I told Dale. He said that I was either remembering my parents or I was just acquiring more of an imagination.
*
"Yes. I know Dale. I'm sorry." He wiped my tears away. My face was cupped by his hands.
"I love you like you were my own daughter. I wish I would let you out. But I want to protect you. We can't risk anything." I nodded. Dale smiled and kissed my forehead.
"Oh! Guess what day it is in two days?"
I thought about it.
Did he have to go back to town?
I just shrugged at Dale. He chuckled. "It's your sixteenth birthday, sugarplum."
I felt something thumping inside of me. It must be my heart. But my breath was getting heavier. It was louder. I felt so happy. So content. I knew because I was jumping up and down and smiling.
"Dale! I'm so-so happy! What does this mean? I forgot."
"Haha! It means that in two days, you will be born sixteen years from that day."
I ran to the calculator near the window. It was solar powered. I thought of gadgets as something amazing. Dale says technology is amazing.
I pressed the '1' and '6' button. I proudly told Dale, "Each year has three hundred and sixty-five days. This means I have to multiply sixteen and three hundred and sixty-five together to get the total amount of days that I would be living so far. Which is..." I finished typing up the rest and pressed the equal button.
"Five thousand eight hundred and forty days!"
Dale nodded. Smiling at me. Pressing his hands together loudly. He was clapping. I was so happy. Happier than usual!
"Very good, Sarah! You get smarter everyday."
My face felt warm. "Thanks to you. You teach me everything you know."

If I made some typos, I apologize! So, Sarah is just a clueless puppy. She only knows Dale. Some sizzle in the next chapter. :D
