Chapter Ten

THE DARGONS SECRET

Friday arrives and Keo is feeling positive, his having his lunch alone. Finishing his meal he decided to have a quick beer. Asking the barmaid for a bottle of Bud. Bring the bottle to his lips a women from behind asked in a posh tone, "Are you drowning your sorrows?" Keo spun around on the stool and saw it was that women which he had to take a second look at where he said happily, "Nah I ain't just buying time." Madam asked him, "May I join you, I've had a rough day." Keo said calmly, "Yeah if you want. I'm off soon thou I have something to do." Madam wasn't pleased on his reply, she sat next to him and asked, "What have you got to do day that's so important?" Keo said, "I've gotta pack my bags I'm leaving tonight." Madam said, "Oh OK - have you been here long?" Keo said, "Nah just a few days - it's been a good break away." Madam said, "That's good. I'm Jodie Nadal by the way." Keo said, "Pleased to meet you Jodie, I'm Keo Miles." Madam was pleased when she heard his name, she said, "Do you want another drink Keo?" Keo looked at his bottle still half full he then said, "Oh sorry, Excuse my bad manners I've should of asked you, but Nah I'm OK - Would you like one?" Madam said quickly, "Nah I'm ok - but thanks for the offer thou. Anyway you have a good day, doing your think. I'll see your around gorgeous." She got up and left the bar. Keo finished his beer and also left. He decided to go back to his room for a quick nap. Three hours passed Keo woke up and freshen up. After his shower he layered up for his long night. Once all layered up Keo made his way to hardware shop to grab a few items for tonight. Meanwhile madam was with her five bodyguards and giving them orders. She told the other four to make their way to Holyrood park and keep a eye on things and take out all the rangers at the park. The four bodyguards all nodded and left. Her main guard she said to him, "You watch Terry make sure he doesn't let Keo know of our plans." The guard grunted, "Yes madam." Madam then left and she to started to make her way to Holyrood park. Another couple hours past and Keo had finished his shopping. In his new backpack he had one hundred metres of climbing rope, a climbing pickaxe couple of torches, a new set of night vision binoculars, a petrol lighter. So he was all set for his trip back to Holyrood park .

The night draws near and Keo is at the park and keeping a low profile. So he wouldn't get told to leave by the rangers, unknown to Keo all the rangers have been knocked out and tied up. The park closes around eight. So the last few hikers are leaving the park. The moon is full and bright the light is blinding if you stare at it for along period. Keo checked his new shock wrist watch it was now nine o'clock. Arriving back at the steeple, where he lays his two torches on a nearby rock and aiming the light at the steeple. So he can see the footholds more easier, the moon light hasn't quiet reached the steeple so it was difficult to see in the darkness. Carefully climbing the steeple again which is a little bit easier this time around. Reaching the top he could only just making out Aurther's seat in the distance. Taking a deep breath Keo took out the dagger from his holster reaching out his left hand while he held the dagger in his right. Slowly he cut his palm to draw blood, making a two inch cut. The blade turns a deep red in colour. He then slotted the dagger into the cross, blade still a deep red as the point reached the dragon's heart. Dripping lots of his blood over the bloodstone gem which starred to glow a brighter red. Making sure it was all covered still holding the leather handle in his right hand also still wearing the dragon heart ring. Which also glowed a bright red as his blood dripped down the handle. The bloodstone gem is completely covered then suddenly the dragon around the cross started to turn red. Then all of a sudden the dragon ran around the cross over the bloody handle of the dagger then over the ring and around it, it then ran up Keo's right sleeve of his jacket within a second of running up Keo's sleeve the dragon bite Keo which made Keo jump and lose grip, falling quickly to the ground with a heavy thud. Waking up ten minutes later, Keo stood up in groggy manner, he stumbled briefly before he checked the steeple for the dagger saying to himself, "That's lucky still up there." Then his right arm started to burn where he said out loud, "Ouch - hot hot hot, that's burning." As he patted his arm after a couple of pats he noticed his hand better no blood no cut Keo thought, "Gee that's freaky! But hey all good." Checking his watch it's just past ten o'clock, "I best get going - roll on my hour and half hike." He said to himself as he collected his torches. Hour and half passed and Keo is hooking up his climbing rope to nearby four foot rock, running the rope over the edge all he can do is wait till midnight which is only fifteen minutes away. Just away from Keo who was standing on the peak of Aurther's seat madam and two off her guards where ducking behind two large boulders. While he was waiting he had a quick thought, "I can't recall seeing the dragon around the cross, when I checked to see if the dagger was still up there - Nah must of been." He looked at his watch again then up at the full moon which is shining brightly and it's nearly at his twelve o'clock hour. Looking towards the steeple which is now in the moon light - There before his eyes the gem was glowing white and within his next blink a bright red beam shot from it and was hitting the cliff face about thirty feet down. Keo grabbed his rope and abseil down the cliff face towards the red beam of light. Getting nearer Keo could see it was making an heart shape. Arriving to the light under a minute he looked at the shape then without thinking he made a fist with his right hand and pressed the ring into the shape, it was a prefect match Keo then twist his fist like a key to the right. The cliff face started to shake, rocks fell and then a grinding sound was made just of to his left as a large chuck of rock face shifted inwards and side wards to reveal a hidden circlur cove entance the size of an lorries rig.
