Chapter 4

At Home...

"Mom....Dad you guys home?" I say and then shrug getting no reply. I walk to my room and Listen to music. *Bang! Bang!* I heard gun shots...they were right outside the window...I sat there and I watched as a man fought back with the shooter and one last shot was fired....and the man was done. I kind of Felt bad for the man...He looked so young. The shooter looked up towards my window.... I ducked down so I couldn't be seen. I looked back and he must have dissapeared cause I didn't see him. "Knock Knock" I heard a familiar voice. "Uh....Who is it?" I asked, confused. "Its your father Joyce.... Open the door....now!" I heard dads voice and he screamed at me. I opened the door and he busted in. "Joyce... NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!" He yelled louder at me. "What did I do?" I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "You looked out that window...that man you just saw die was trying to hurt your mother...I had to kill him...what if I wasn't there!? what if he succeeded and found you too! " He yelled and actually started to look....afraid....my dad....The Joker...afraid? who would have thought. "Oh dad...I didn't know....I'm sorry....is mom OK...Please tell me she's OK " I almost started crying but stopped myself. "She's fine.... Just in the hospital for a bit" He looked upset but it faded away. I went back to my room. "Joyce! JOYCE! OUT HERE NOW!" My father yelled for me and I came out. I saw a familiar face in the darkness. "Robert? Oh Gracious....Robert... what are you doing here this late at night?" I said and stared at him. "I...I was coming to see if you were OK...me and William and the gang haven't seen you since yesterday" He said and didn't take his eyes off my dad, who was pointing a gun at him. "Um...Dad...Please put your gun down...He's safe....promise" I looked at my dad almost begging him. "Hmmm....Fine...only for my joyous princess...." He smilled at me....but it was almost evil. "Joyce.... I will see you tomorrow....right?" Robert said looking at me. "Yeah....I'll see you and the gang tomorrow. Bye Robin....I mena Robert!" I looked at my father for a moment then me and Robert laughed a bit and he left.

At School...

The next day at school Robert, William, Peter, and Asphondel met me outside. "Joyce Over Here" William called for me. I walked over to them and hugged Asphondel, Who had become like my best friend. Robert Stared at me for a while. "You look really nice today Joyce..." Said William. I saw Robert give him a bit of an angry look. "Oh...Thanks William!" I smiled a little bit but didn't blush for some reason. We all walked to class after hearing the bell. after class we all hung out outside of the school yard. Peter and William were talking a bit away from the group. "I wonder what they're talking about over there... Said Avery and looked at all of us. "Probably sports or something dumb like that" said marrisa. I looked over and saw William coming back. " Joyce... could I talk to you... privately" Said William kinda quietly. " Oh....um...Sure"I said and kinda looked at the group and me and Robert made eye contact for what felt like minutes but was only a few seconds. me and William went farther away from the group. "So...I...I was wondering...if maybe...you would want to go out with me sometime..." He smiled a bit at me. "Um...That's kinda sudden...Is it OK if I...need to think about it..." I felt bad but I was stuck...I thought I might like someone else....but I wasn't sure. "oh...yeah...yeah of coarse its fine.. take your time... I get it" He smiled and walked back to the group. I stayed there for a bit. Suddenly I felt faint....time passed and I went to walk back to the group...Then I felt myself falling... Right before I Black out...I see William and Robert run to my side..I smiled inside and fell unconscious.
