Chapter 3

Chances
_____________
Recap:
Something has happened. There were blood, and cars and wheels, and ambulance. I can't put it together. I still held my head tightly and I heard the ambulance call my name but I can't respond. It felt like that someone had stabbed my head, it hurts too much, I could hardly stand it anymore before I let out an ear piercing scream. I started wailing and all I could feel was the unbearable pain. Someone helped me get up, a few people carried me and I heard the wheels of the beds from the hospital scratch on the concrete and I was laid on top of it.

I know it now...

I know what happened...

I already died.

I was carried on the bed and they put  me into the ambulance car. The nurse put something cold onto my forehead and it slowly soothed the pain, it calmed me down. I stared blankly to the white ceiling of the van and breathed slowly. Someone used a tissue and wiped the tears away from my cheeks, I laid my hand top of my stomach and remained still.

I know what happened now. I already died, when I was 23 years old, in a car crash, a week after I broke up with Chance, my boyfriend. And maybe God gave another chance, I came back to when I was 15 years old, so I could change my choices again, so I don't have to make those regretful choices again; basically I time travelled. I appeared in the city square, almost dead, like most people do in those movies did. That was why I had no memories of what happened before I came into this passed world.

But where were my family, if I was almost dead in the city square, they would have known, and why was I surrounded with a ton of people who were just staring at me, why didn't someone send me to the hospital when they found me? Why? Everything was a mystery.

Maybe, my family doesn't come back and time travel with me, maybe, they are somewhere else.

I am 15 right now, 8 years before I died, I could barely remember what happened to me back then, or should I say, right now.

-----------

My eyes slowly opened. The vision in front of me was shaky, or was I dizzy. I closed them and opened them again. Things become to get clearer.

The first thing that came into my eyes were white walls, the white ceilings, white bed, white sheets and white curtains.

Where is this?

I could here a few murmuring and voices outside. I slowly got up, lifting my back and sitting in a comfortable position. There was a door creak, and someone came in. It was a nurse, wearing white as well. Well, it's in a hospital.

She walked in quietly and when she saw me, she was surprised.

"Mr Shaw, she's awake!" She shouted outside the door, kind of excited but worried.

"Really?" Came a voice. Then a man came in. He had glasses and some white hair. He looked like he's in his early fifties. "Let me see." He said and approached me.

He bent down and took out a for what looked like a torch and shone it at my eyes as I looked away. That was polite! I thought. He then did some random things to check if I was okay. I kept quiet for most of the time.
