Chapter 13
Parents
-----
Recap:
I looked at the park. The autumn leaves were falling everywhere, it was a beautiful sight. Like when we had our first date here, when I gave my first kiss to him. It was a special night. The Smiths were already setting up as I went to help. After we finished and decided to relax, I looked up to see someone I never expected to see.
-----
Mum...Dad...
It is them.
Sitting on the bench under a tall golden tree, talking, laughing and giggling. I wanted to walk to them, what will happen if they see me. But I brought up my courage and walked to them anyway telling the Smiths I want to collect some of the leaves as bookmarks.
I got closer, inch by inch, my heart beating faster than ever. I stood in front of them. Noticing my presence, they looked up.
"Mum... Dad..."
There was silence. They were thinking in about something, processing my words.
"Ummm.... Do we... Uhhh... know you?" My dad asked unsurely.
Uhhhh what? Don't tell me that your parents don't recognise you if you time travel.
"What?" I asked shocked.
"Ummm.... Do we know you?" This time, my mum asked.
I paused as I started speaking loudly. They seemed really confused.
"Mum? Dad? Don't you recognise me? What are you talking about? It's me! Anna! Annalise Waters! Your daughter!" I shouted a little, they are pulling a prank on me right? They got to be kidding right? They can't forget me. They can't. I can't survive without them.
"Ummm... I think you've made a mistake." My dad began standing up with his arm around my mum's shoulder. "I am Chris Valentine and this is my wife Nichole Valentine. We do not have a daughter. I'm sorry, this must be a mistake, but do you need any help? If that's a no then we would like to leave." My dad said politely.
They turned to leave.
No.
This can't be happening. This can't be true. What the hell?
"Mum! Dad! It's me!" I screamed to their back. They didn't turn around. I chased them, but they already got in their car and sped off.
What?
My goodness.
I was left without any words. Speechless.
My parents.
Ughhhhh. I can't seem to get this thing off my mind so I just went back to our picnic.
"Hey Anna!" Beck called enthusiastically. I ignored her, thinking about my parents. "Anna." She said quietly again. "Anna!" She called loudly this time.
I snapped my head to her. "Umm... Yea?" I asked.
"You okay?"
I paused.
"Yea, I'm totally fine, just... some kid threw this poison ball at me and kinda hit... Uhhh... My head, nothing's wrong." I lied.
"Well.... Okay." She said. "Anyway, did you find any good leaves for your bookmark?" She asked.
Right, the leaves. Nevermind, I'll just lie again.
"Umm... No. They were all chewed by pets and crushed so yea." I replied. She looked at me unsurely and began speaking again.
"Well, okay." She dragged me to he picnic area. "Come join us!"
We then talked about our plans for the rest of holiday which is 3 weeks before school starts. It took forever since there are so much things to do. After that. We went back to our hotel and I fell asleep quite quickly after this tiring day.
