A/N: sorry the last chapter was so short, I just wanted to add a bit of suspense. Here's the second part of at least four or five. Hope it's good! Bya!

*Callie's POV*

*Flashback*

I stand behind the door, listening in.

"Prep the machines; one today, one tomorrow."

"Yes ma'am, the machines are prepped and ready to go."

"Perfect. Bring in subjects one and two and prep them and send them in." At this, I burst through the door and march straight up to the chancellor.

"What the hell are you doing?" I yell, pointing an accusing finger at her. Despite me barging in and yelling at her, she remains calm.

"Ah, Callie. What are you doing here? You're supposed to be working," Chancellor Paige says, shocked. I don't know how to answer this; I had told the guards watching me that I was going to the bathroom and they believed me. Luckily they're both guys so they wouldn't go in with me. Yikes. Can a girl have her privacy, please? They escorted me to one of the millions of bathrooms in this damn facility.

"I got a break," I lie. "But this isn't about me. What are you doing?"

"We're continuing the Trials," she responds simply.

"Putting Thomas and Teresa into the Maze was not part of the plan," I hiss.

"Correction. It wasn't in the plan you heard. Thomas and Teresa are the key to unlocking the cure. This is what they prepared for," the chancellor says. I'm purely shocked. So shocked, in fact, that I can barely speak.

"But what are you going to do with me?" I ask. She puts a hand on my shoulder and leads me out and down the hallways; talking the whole time.

"See, I have a special mission for you, my dear. And I want you to do it with the utmost diligency, okay?" I nod. "I gave you this job because I know you can do it."

"Yeah. What is it?"

"The British boy?" I nod again.

"Yeah?"

"I want you to kill him."

*End flashback*

I woke up, unable to breathe. I gasped for breath as boys closed in around me, cutting off my air supply. As soon as I could, I sat up and held my chest, coughing and taking heaving breaths; making the boys move closer. Someone pushed through the crowd.

"Back up! Back up! Let her breathe!" a voice yelled. I could tell it was Alby's voice. The boys all backed up and the air in the room returned.

As soon as I got enough air into my lungs, I scrambled out of the bed I was in, pushed past the crowd and ran out. Out of the room, out of the Homestead, out of the eyes of lots of teenage boys staring at my practically half naked body. Seriously, I was only in some spandex, underwear, and a sports bra. I wonder who's brilliant idea that was.

As I reach the clump of trees in a corner of the Glade, I find the energy to run forward until I get to the edge where two walls connect. I slow to a stop and turn with my back pressed against the corner. I slide down the wall and sit with my head in my knees. The sun's setting so it's getting colder and I shiver.

"Hi." I hear a voice. A British voice. I look up to see Newt standing a few feet away just staring at me.

"Are you here to hurt me or take advantage of me?" I ask bitterly. He sits down next to me.

"No. And for the record, I voted against taking off your clothes," he says, wrapping a blanket around my shivering body. He rubs my shoulders to warm me up. How could WICKED expect me to kill such a kindhearted creature? What did he do to deserve it?

"You voted to see if you could take off my clothes or not?" I ask, looking into his eyes. For the first time I notice how they sparkle in the light from the setting sun, making them a beautiful light brown.

"I didn't want to have a vote; it seemed like common sense to me, but-" I cut him off.

"Wait, were you the only one who voted against it?" I ask.

"No, it was me, Alby, Tommy, Teresa, Chuck, Clint, Jeff, Frypan, Minho, and a few others, but Gally and the rest are just bloody perverted shanks," he explains. On instinct, I lean my head on his shoulder.

"Thanks, Newt," I say. He continues to rub my shoulders and soon rests his head on mine. We stay there until Newt picks his head up.

"We should probably get going; dinner is almost ready and Frypan will kill us if we're late," he groans, getting up and starting to walk away. I laugh and he stops, still facing away from me.

"What?" he asks, his voice defensive, but soft.

"You. You're cute when you're worried," I say, unsure why I said it. He finally turns toward me.

"What?" he asks, clearly in shock. I shake my head.

"Nothing. I didn't say anything. Sorry," I mutter. He starts to slowly walk back to where I'm sitting; still wrapped in the blanket he gave me.

"You said I'm cute," he says, still walking slowly. I put my head in my hands and groan.

"No, I didn't. You must've heard me wrong," I say. The words come out muffled by my fingers.

"I'm pretty sure I'm not bloody deaf," he says, kneeling in front of me.

"Alright, yes, you're cute. Just arrest me already," I say. He lifts my chin up so I'm looking at him.

"Well thank you, Callie," he says, leaning closer to me.

"How'd you know my name?" I ask.

"It was on a note in your jacket pocket. Something about a mission," he explains.

"Do you have the note?" I ask. He nods and takes a slip of paper from his back pocket and hands it to me. I unfold it and look at the familiar writing on the blank paper.

Callie, remember your mission; your life depends on it. And trust me, it will all work out in the end.

Newt looks at me.

"Who's it from?" he asks. I almost answer, but I remember that I'm not supposed to know anything but my name.

"Uh, I don't know."

"Do you know what your mission is?" he asks, his eyes shimmering with curiosity. I shrug.

"No," I lie again. His face falls and it makes my heart break. "But I'm sure it was something simple, like, find a way out or help maintain order in times of chaos," I add and he smiles.

"Well, I think we should go. Frypan's almost done serving," Newt suggests, standing up and leaving. I stay there, basking in the warmth his accent gives me.

"Damn," I mutter before getting up and following.
