Chapter 2: A Fight and Some New Friends. Hopefully.
I heard the classical music that was playing as I walked up the steps of the Modern Arts Museum, where the ceremony was being held. I made my way up the stairs into the museum. I gave the guard my ticket, and walked into the museum. As I walked in, I kept looking around, marveling at the sheer beauty. All around were beautiful paintings and pastels. And right smack dab in the middle was a giant stone table, with two oxen facing outwards at each head. I shivered; the table reminded me of the types of tables that the Mayans used for sacrifices. I quickly made a mental note to stay away from the table.
After about an hour of boring conversation, I heard a loud SMACK! I quickly broke the conversation I was in as I looked behind me and saw the same man from the airport who caught my ticket, holding a large golden staff that glowed bright blue at the end. I looked on, horrified, as I saw him turn to a guard that was charging at him and smack him in the face with his staff, sending the poor guard flying back. I was frozen from shock, as I watched the man grab the museum curator by the scruff of his neck, and dragged him towards the stone table. I snapped out of my strange trance-like state and approached the mysterious attacker. “Let him go,” I said as soon as I got close enough.
The man smirked, keeping his hold on the curator. “Now, why would I do that? It’s not like you mortals could stop me, especially not a young woman like you.”
I felt my anger boiling. “That’s where you’re wrong,” I said, then I charged at the man. He flung the curator to the ground and got into a battle stance.
“I’d like to see you try.”
I charged at him, kicking him straight in the stomach. I had just barely put my foot on the ground when he swung his staff at me. I dodged, keeping an eye on my opponent and my surroundings. I kicked at his arm that held the staff, only to have my foot go right through him. Before I could do anything else, I was hit in the back, causing me to fly through the air, straight into a wall. That’s gonna leave a nice bruise, I thought to myself as I hit the ground. I fell limp on the ground, acting as if I had passed out, keeping my eyes shut and my breath steady. I knew that if I got up again, I would wind up actually passing out, and that wouldn’t help anyone. I needed to wait for the right moment, so that I could leave the crowd and change into my Silent Night outfit.
As I lay there, I listened closely to what was going on. I heard the man pick up the curator once again, and heard the curator’s body land on what I thought was the stone table. I heard a metallic whirring, followed by screams and footsteps running to the door. I heard what I hoped was the mystery man slowly walking to the door. When I was sure that I was alone, I quickly picked myself up off of the floor. As quickly as I could, I ripped my dress off, and put on my mask, stowing away my dress in the process.
I made my way outside to a little blacktop area that was right outside of the museum. I saw a man with a golden helmet on his head, which had ginormous horns sticking out of it. He was carrying a golden scepter that shone a light blue at the end, near the point. I quickly realized that it was the same man, and that he had just changed clothes. How he changed so quickly, I didn’t know. Maybe he’s magic or something. I heard him talking, it sounded like he was in the middle of a speech. “You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel.”
I gave an unladylike snort,” That line might work on prostitutes and sluts, but here, we were meant to rule, not to be ruled.” He tensed, as if I had surprised him, and he slowly turned towards me. I saw his scepter begin to light up. I quickly created a shield with my powers, deflecting his blast of blue energy. That’s weird, I thought, that looks exactly like my golden blasts. However, I didn’t have time to think about it more, because he was charging at me. I ducked, narrowly avoiding his scepter as he swung it at me. At that point, the crowd that was previously kneeling ran.
