Chapter 7- A Setup and a Date

*Lacey’s P.O.V.*

I stood in front of my mirror, my golden blonde hair hanging down loosely. I twirled once, feeling odd in my yellow sundress. It was five minutes until six, and I was ready for my date with Steve. I decided to go for a walk on the ship, just so I could burn some time. Grabbing my phone, I set off in no particular direction. After walking aimlessly for about five minutes, I decided to go to the bridge to see there was any progress on the cube, seeing as I was banned from the lab by Tony. After walking for fifteen minutes, I realized something very important. I had absolutely no idea where I was. I looked around; trying to decipher a familiar landmark, but all I saw was an empty hallway. I looked at the door on my right. It was unmarked, just like almost every other door on this ship. Hoping that somebody who worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. was in there, I crossed my fingers and placed my hand on the scanner. It beeped, and the door opened. I walked in, hearing the door slide shut behind me. I looked around, and recognized the room as Loki’s containment cell, with the ‘God’ himself sitting on a bench and staring straight at me. He flashed me a devious smile that he must have thought was a charming grin. “Hello, Lacey.”

“Welp, this obviously isn’t what I was looking for,” I said aloud, turning so that I could leave the room.

“Oh, but don’t you want to stay?” Loki asked, trying to be charming. Keyword: tried.

“As much as I would love to stay and hang out with a special green snowflake, I’m kind of busy,” I retorted.

“Oh, but aren’t you curious?” he asked slyly.

“What would I have to be curious about?” My mind immediately flashed to when Fury was interrogating him. And you even have its key.

“Oh, lots of things. Like what happened to your mother. Or why you absorbed the power of the tesseract instead of being destroyed by it.”

I turned around to look at Loki square in the face. “I may not know what happened to my mother, or why the tesseract did that to me, but I’d much rather search for the answers myself than get them from a psychopathic snowflake like you.” I turned around and went to the door, scanning my hand. When the door opened, I walked out of them calmly.

Before I left, I heard Loki say, “You will join me in the end. Whether you wish to or not.” I felt a shiver run through my spine. As soon as the doors had closed, I burst into a run, rushing into hallways until I eventually found my room. I burst in, slamming the door closed behind me. I leaned against the door, breathing hard. After a minute, I regained my composure, standing up straight. I checked the time on my phone, and realized that Steve would be here in ten minutes. I walked over to my bathroom, making sure that I looked presentable.

“Loki is trying to manipulate you. Don’t let anything he says get in your mind. He doesn’t know anything.” I chided to myself, trying to get my hands to stop glowing. I took a few deep breaths, and was finally back to normal. I walked back into my room, and sat on my bed, waiting for Steve. As soon as I sat on my bed, I heard a knock on my door. I jumped up from my bed, and ran to the door, slipping my phone back into my dress pocket on the way there. I calmed myself quickly, and opened the door.

My jaw nearly dropped at the sight of Steve. He had combed his hair off to the side, sort of like in a flip. He was holding something behind his back, so that I couldn’t see it. He wore a blue checkered shirt, tucked into khaki pants, and showing off a brown leather belt. He wore brown shoes that looked as if they were freshly polished. I realized that I was staring, and a warm blush crept onto my cheeks. “Hey Steve, you look really nice,” I said the words before I even knew what I was saying.
