The Invitation That Changed Everything

Rewrite Notice ^^

Hello! Rub1xx here, thought I'd just let you all know. I'll get to the point:

... this fic is OLD.

Not like 'wrote 10 years ago on a school MacBook in middle school' old (I didn't even do middle school, that doesn't exist in my country!! Oh I also have never had a MacBook before :P), but actually 'I came up with this when I was like 13 (I think so anyway idk can't remember) and I thought it was so clever that I stayed up past my bedtime making the first chapter.'

That IS what happened, as far as I know. Yeah, crazy right? Well, because it's old, I want to rewrite it entirely for the following reasons:

1. I finally got my interest in Smash Bros. to come back! This is the most major one, since even if I now don't consider Pixel as a Smash Bros. oc, that doesn't take away the fact that she was intended as one. So, why not rewrite my old Smash fic? :)
(Special thanks to my sudden interest in Persona 5 for this one though, it got me into Smash and now Joker is suddenly one of my three mains. Um... I never saw it coming? :))

2. It's not very good. I haven't looked at this fic for a while, but I remember certain scenes of it. Certain dialogues. And all I can feel is 'hhhhngh why did I write that'. It's not exactly 'cringe' to me - which is a funny thing to say given this is an oc x cannon world. I just... kinda wanna give it a fresh start.

3. I got the idea of maybe drawing occasional images for it. Now I'm invested! ^^

4. Pixel - like I said in my update post - is still an oc I regularly use. I just kind of left this fic in the back of my mind, but I still use Pixel a lot! So I wanted to retry her origins in this fic. That also leads me to my next point...

5. Pixel... is a whole new person now. This drawing I made a while back best describes it.

Note - the one on the right is this fic's Pixel. Isn't she so soft-faced and cuteee?
Well... that's the problem. I haven't redesigned Pixel - the one in the right actually captures her essence more, the one on the left is just the battle hardened warrior she thinks she is. Expectations vs reality I'd say!
But Pixel's lore changed a lot as I developed her. She's not actually a passive cake fighter who just wants everyone's approval anymore... well, sort of! But she's not exactly passive and peaceful anymore? I don't know how to describe it, but you'll see it in the book. ;)

Another note - Pixel does have a a slight tan in her newer art. That was a newer development, I thought of her using an oven as a tanning bed once and that idea kinda stuck with me. I thought it was funny lol.

6. The last reason... I think I'm a better writer now. I wanna give this a better try. I have more free time now. I've been honing my skills on the land known as... 'Archive of Our Own'. I'm not very much better over there. But I'm more confident in my fanfic capabilities now!

Sorry that so many characters were out of character by the way. Before writing, I only knew like... four games here, Mario, Pokémon, Kirby and Animal Crossing. I had experience playing Sonic games, Zelda (BOTW specifically) and Kid Icarus (3ds one), but I never played them very much? Didn't get far, idk why. Everything else was kind of lost on me, had no clue about anything about Star Fox, Metroid, Earthbound (though Earthbound will be a game I want to play someday soon 👀), Final Fantasy, etc. I feel like some of my characterisations were just straight up dogwater and I wish I could have done the characters more justice :D

But hey, you know what? I tried.

Rewrite will be even better (at least I hope so, anyway?)

I'll leave the published parts up, maybe at the end of the book? They aren't going anywhere! I will leave a clear divider for them though, also to not confuse any new readers. I'll also publish my unused plans for the later chapters until I decided to just stop writing the book - even those are still out of character. I'm so sorry I was trying my best :,)
