Why I've Been Gone ...

Dear readers,

Over the past year and a half, my life has completely changed. Reading SJM's books made me reflect on what I wanted, both in a relationship and as an individual. Because of that, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life: ending my 10-year relationship and getting a divorce.

I wasn't fulfilled. It felt like I was living in a beautiful, safe garden that I couldn't leave, but couldn't truly be happy in either. Once I finally freed myself, the world became brighter.

I started doing things outside of my comfort zone. It brought fear and anxiety, but also excitement, passion, and joy. Things I'd been missing for a very long time. Not only have I been able to experience life more fully, but I also found my person.

Taking those chances and embracing change led me to someone who makes me feel more loved than I ever thought possible. More seen. More cared for. More like a true partner. And this isn't meant to diminish my ex-husband or the decade we shared. We were an important part of each other's growth, but our story had reached its natural end. The only way for both of us to move forward was to take different paths.

The fact that I'm still getting notifications of people adding my writing to their reading lists, commenting, and voting absolutely fills my heart. I appreciate every single one of you, and I'd love to get back into writing soon. Right now, I'm finishing my second master's degree and will be graduating at the end of the summer!

I guess what I want you all to take away from this is that I am truly grateful for your support, and that it is possible to find a love that feels like the kind you read about. No, not the bat boys or the magic or the fantasy kingdoms, but the feeling of being deeply loved, understood, and chosen exactly as you are.
