Yes ik I said that I wasn't going to post the sequel today, but I couldn't help myself. So here's the sequel to TAOV, The Adventures of Memories. Enjoy! -Kay
Aikae's POV:
I always envied animals. They get to poop where they want, sleep where they want, and not have to worry about being possibly killed in their sleep. Technically, we are animals. Descendants of monkeys, to be exact. But we must not be animals, because as I am thinking this, I am laying on my side on the side of the road, worrying about being killed or kidnapped in my sleep.
I stare at the road across from me, where a gas station stands, its' bright lights lighting up my face, making it impossible for me to sleep. I couldn't sleep when it was light. We had walked for about 2 hours until it got dark and we had to rest. Val snores quietly from behind me, curled up next to Kay who was sleeping as well.
Mayu slept near my feet, sleeping silently. As for Kay... well let's just say trying to sleep with an elephant behind you is not a very easy thing to do. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Mayu's stuffed bunny, Mimi, laying against her chest.
I use my backpack, stuffed with extra clothes and my phone and stuff, as a pillow and try once again to sleep. Failing once again, I face the other way at the fence behind me and try again. Finally, I feel exhaustion take over me, sleep following soon after.

Mayu stands over me, shaking me awake, and I finally sit up. "Come on," she says. "we have to go." I nod and slowly stand up, slinging my backpack over my shoulder. I feel a raindrop land on my forehead, and then a few more. "Crap." Val says. "Remind me why we didn't think to bring an umbrella?" Kay says, when it starts pouring rain.
I tell them to follow me, and we run across the street to the gas station. We run under the roof and I sidestep a car exiting the gas station. "We could get breakfast here," Kay says. "They should have granola bars." "Okay," I reply, and we start toward the shop.
Mayu opens the door and a bell rings. A girl behind the counter with freckles and her hair tied back into a braid looks up from her work and smiles. "Good morning," she greets. I smile and wave at her, following Val into an aisle of the store.
She spots a shelf filled with granola bars and smiles. "Everyone take 2." I say, and they nod. I grab 2 as well and we make our way to the counter again. We split the money back at the house, and we each had $375.00.
We put our food on the counter and pay separately, saying goodbye to the employee before leaving the store and running back under the roof. I open one of my granola bars, deciding to save the other one for later.
I take a bite out of the bar, and everyone does the same. I finish mine first, tossing the trash in a garbage can in front of the store, and everyone finishes soon after. "Now what?" Mayu says after a while, and I shrug. "We keep walking, I guess." Val suggests, and I nod. "Yeah. We could go into the city, and Mayu could perform a song or something." Mayu flinches at that.
"What?" I say, and she doesn't answer right away so I repeat it. "What's wrong?" I ask again. "It's just... I have terrible stage fright. I don't think I can do that. Especially in the city." "Okay, then Kay and Val can perform a dance?" suggest, and they nod.
"Okay," Kay says. "Okay, I think we can do that. What song though?" she says, turning to Val. She thinks for a moment before answering. "We could do a few. Maybe, WEDH, dance dance, and... Summer idol?" Val says, me not understanding anything they're saying.
"Okay!" Kay says, before turning to me. "We'll do it. Now lets go find the city."

Kay and Val finish their last dance, clasping hands and bowing. Everyone boos, and my backpack remains empty. Kay walks over to me, Val following behind, and gives me a confused look. "Hold on," Mayu says, and walks in front of the crowd. "Have any of you heard of VOCALOID?" she asks, and everyone scratches their head, thinking. "Was that what that ear-bleeding music I just heard was?" a woman from the back shouts, and the crowd laughs.
Mayu blushes and walks back over to me. "Do you think Zatsune made the entire world forget that VOCALOID even existed?" I suggest. "It could be so," Val says. We all look at Mayu, whos eyes go wide. "Nononononono!" she exclaims. "I am not singing in front of all those people!" Kay walks over and gives her the puppy eyes, as does Val.
"Please?" Kay pleads, and Mayu's face goes from frustrated to awe. "Think of the children," Val adds. After a while of whimpering like dogs, Mayu gives in. "Okay, Okay! I'll sing! Just... stop looking at me like that, please." Kay and Val high five and walk over to the iPad I brought, searching up instrumental for one of Mayu's songs.
They find a song, and we find a stool for Mayu to sit on, and we plug in the mic into a speaker we borrowed from a karaoke place down the road. They said that if this was the best performance they have ever seen, then we could borrow it for free. Let's hope Mayu doesn't crack under the pressure.
Val starts the song, and Mayu starts singing, her voice cracking a little at the beginning. She recovers, knowing how important this is to us. Someone tosses a bill into my backpack, a few more following it. I smile as everyone starts cheering, and Mayu blushes. She keeps singing until my backpack is half full with money, and she is about to faint. We give the mic and speaker back to the karaoke people, who don't charge us for it. I shove my stuff into the backpack, deciding to count the money later.
I smile, happy with our results. "Maybe we can come out here every day." Kay says. "Don't push your luck." Mayu replies, and we all share a laugh. I decide that happiness isn't having a huge mansion, or being known all across the world, it's sharing your life with the people you love.
