Miku's POV:
I wake up in the middle of the night to a loud banging sound, almost as if someone was banging on metal. It sounds like it's coming from the other building, I think to myself. I make a mental note to yell at whoever woke me up this late, and I slowly side my legs out from under my blankets. I stand up and tiptoe around a pile of my clothes on the floor. I reach the door and slowly ease it open, careful not to wake anyone up.
I close the door behind me, softly, and pad down the hallway and down the stairs. I brush a piece of my teal hair out of my face and exit the building, making my way to the one I heard the banging coming from. I close the door behind me and walk down the porch steps.
I head to the right, where the building holding the library and arcade is. I open the metal door and step inside, the moon being my only source of light in the pitch dark library. I see a door at the back of the room, with light shining through it.
I cautiously walk towards it and swing it open. I see a hallway that you would most likely find in a fast food restaurant's kitchen. It is brightly lit, and on both sides of me there are rooms, both without doors. I look to my left and see someone with a mask on, banging on an anvil.
I walk down the hallway and to the room, still walking slowly. I walk down the few steps that lead to the floor of the cramped room. The girl lifts a gloved hand to the mask covering her face, and lifts it. She wipes sweat from her forehead, and she finally sees me.
The girl smiles, takes off her mask and gloves, and faces me. The girl is very pretty. Beautiful, I mean. She has golden, wavy, blonde hair tied back into a huge ponytail that ends at her knees. She also has bangs that frame her face that holds crystal blue eyes. She was wearing a white spaghetti strap tanktop and white booty shorts, and I suddenly feel very warm in pajama pants and a t shirt.
"Hello, Miku." she says. Very mature, I note. "Hi," I squeak out, and she chuckles, placing her hands on her hips and walks a few feet closer to me. "Um... not to be rude but, who are you?" I ask her, and smiles again and looks at a corner of the room, then back at me.
"My name is SeeU." she tells me, and I nod. "Were we friends before I lost my memory?" I ask her, and she shrugs. "We were more acquaintances, rather than friends. But we talked occasionally." SeeU replies. "Ah," I say. "what are you working on?"
"Oh, this? It might just save you, and all your friends, memories, Miku." SeeU says. I nod, and follow her to the anvil. "What's it do?" I ask, feeling stupid using my own vocabulary while SeeU is using very... mature vocabulary.
"When it is done, it should get your memories back. If not, we can try to take you somewhere that might jog it. But I doubt that will work." she shakes her head and turns to me. I look away from the gun-looking object on top of the anvil to look at her. "If it doesn't work, you can always make weapons, right?" I say, and she shakes her head.
I raise my eyebrow at her. "I don't believe in using my talents for violence." she says. (If you don't get that, we can't be friends -Kay) I frown, and nod at her.
"Well, I'm going to bed." I say after a while of silent staring at eachother. SeeU smiles and nods at me. "You should, too. But I'm mostly saying that because I can't sleep with you banging down here." She raises her eyebrow at me. "You heard me?" she says in disbelief. I laugh. "Goodnight, SeeU." And I walk back to my room, resuming my sleep.
***
The next morning, Rin wakes me up. "Come on," she says. "SeeU says she has something to show us." I smile and nod as Rin leaves the room so I can change. I force my self to get out of bed, and I finally do. I change out of my pajamas into a plain white t-shirt and skinny jeans. I tie my long hair into a ponytail and run out of the room and down the stairs. I slip on my flip flops and open the front door.
I see everyone in the house surrounding something in the middle of the driveway. I run down the porch steps and push through a few people to get to the front. I see SeeU, in the same outfit she was last night, holding up her brilliant invention.
There are dark circles under her eyes, and her frizzy hair isn't in it's ponytail anymore. "It took me all night," SeeU is saying "but I finally finished it. GUMI, MEIKO, Rin, Len, Luka, Gakupo, KAITO, and Miku, please step forward." I shakily walk towards SeeU, along with the 7 other VOCALOIDs who lost their memory.
SeeU lines us up in front of her, shoulders touching. I end up in between Rin and KAITO, and I notice he is almost a full head taller than me. I wonder why Miku-with-her-memory would want to date him?
"Okay, hold still." SeeU says, and I look away from KAITO to gaze at her. "If this doesn't work, I'm suing you for waking me up at 8:00 am." MEIKO says, causing everyone around us to laugh. "Don't doubt her abilities, SeeU can be pretty talented." a man with a very deep voice and very tight pants says from the crowd around us.
MEIKO shrugs and steadies her feet, as do I. I straighten my back and look at SeeU once again, who is aiming her futuristic-looking gun at us. "Let's hope this works." I hear her mumble.
(you see, I'm at 1000 words right now so i could stop if I wanted to, but I'm nice and i want to keep writing -Kay)
Let's hope this works, I repeat in my head. SeeU hesitantly pulls the trigger, and a white light blinds me for a second. My body aches, and it feels as if it is on fire. Someone is screaming, but I'm not sure who. Then I notice my throat is aching.
I'm screaming.
Slowly, but surely, everything comes back to me. My birthday party, the Acute photoshoot, meeting Aikae, everything. Finally, the light slowly fades and I blink the colorful dots in my vision away. "Well," SeeU says from across from me. "did it work?" she asks.
"That depends." I reply. She raises her eyebrow. "Did Zatsune sabotage my birthday party?" I ask, and everyone cheers. Me and Rin start squealing and hugging everyone, especially eachother. I turn around to KAITO and wrap my hands around his neck, hugging him tightly. He chuckles and puts my legs around his waist, and we hug for a while.
Until I hear a scream.
I frown and pull away from KAITO. I look up at him, and his gaze isn't directed at me. It's directed behind me, at the bottom of the driveway. I tear my eyes away from his and look behind me, immediately regretting my decision.
It's Kagazune Ren. My eyes widen, and I cover my mouth, backing up into KAITO. He wraps his arms around me, protecting me, but I can tell he is scared too. Ren chuckles at our reaction, and walks over to Rin, who is cowering next to me. "Are you afraid, sister?" Rin glares at her and stands up straight. "No," she says, confident. Ren ruffles her hair and walks over to Len, who is standing in front of Luka, trying to look brave.
"Brother," Ren says in her annoyingly low voice. "I've been waiting to see you. How have you been?" she tilts his chin up with her index finger, and then drops it. "Actually I was just peachy until you decided to show up. And after we got our memory back, no less."
Ren frowns, and then she smiles maniacally. "Don't make me laugh, brother." and she walks to the middle, shoving SeeU out of the way. She glares at her. "I'm not here to hurt you just yet. Actually, I was sent by Zatsune to check up on you. According to Len, everything is (or was) 'just peachy' so I am going to leave, then. Until next time, then." and with a snap of her fingers, Ren is gone.
If only it were that easy for me to make them disappear for real.
