(Alex's POV)

I spent hours on the couch tossing and turning trying to fall asleep. It seemed that with each hour, the small train would get decidedly colder.

Finally I was able to drift for maybe a couple minutes before the loudest alarm in the world started going off.

I poked my head out from the pillow, my hair sticking up in five billion directions, looking for the source of the noise.

Sawyer stumbled sleepily out of her room rubbing her eyes.

"What the hell did you do to the train?" She mumbles out, still too asleep to yell at me; thank God.

Sawyer shivered once a burst of cold air hit her bare arms. Her teeth chattered like nothing else, and she was shaking more than Chihuahua. I wanted nothing more than to hold her close to me and try to keep her warm.

Of course, if I did that I would be slaughtered. She barely knows me and she already hates me. I thought angrily to myself.

"Why is it so col-" Sawyer was interrupted by the TV in the living lighting up with the face of Alfred illuminating the screen.

"You kids are making this a lot harder than it should be." Alfred sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"Why isn't Veronica here?" Sawyer asked ignoring his comment."Is she busy doing someone in the bathroom?"

I tried not burst out laughing when Veronica's livid face appeared on the screen.

"For all you know there could be nobody else here." Veronica snapped.

"I saw people in the background wearing lab coats. I'm not stupid." Sawyer shot back.

"That is completely debatable." Veronica's face grew redder by the minute.

"Will you girls stop it?!" Alfred yelled angrily,"Veronica go grab me some Tylenol, I have a splitting migraine because of your unnecessary bickering."

"It's not my fault the child is immature and continues to insult me." She argued.

"Yes, it is. You're a grown woman and still getting into arguments with what you call a child." He sighed.

Scowling, Veronica obeyed, knowing she had been defeated, and exited out of range of the camera.

I noticed Sawyer opening her mouth, most likely to say another one of her smart ass comments, so I quickly interrupted so as not to cause more trouble.

"Why is the train so cold?" I questioned.

Alfred sighed a sigh of relief."Finally! A sensible one! Yes, the train is cold because we have sensors to check if you two are using the same bed provided for you two. If we wanted you to sleep apart we would've provided two beds, but we wanted you to fall in love. The longer you go at night alone the colder the train gets."

Sawyer tightened her jaw."What you're meaning to say is that the only time I have away from him, is taken away from me?!"

Veronica appeared on screen and handed Alfred some Tylenol.

"Have fun, Sawyer!" Veronica smirked and the screen went black.

Sawyer shot me a glare and headed to the room. She paused at the door and turned around to face me."Are you coming or do you want to freeze to death?"

I smiled to myself and mentally thanked Alfred for giving me the opportunity to sleep in an actual bed, rather than a couch.

I was aroused from the amazing pits of darkness I had descended into called 'sleep' when I received a giant slap across the face from someone.

I squinted my eyes open and was immediately blinded by the shining lights in the train cabin.
