(Alex's POV)
I screwed up big time and I knew it. So did Alfred and Veronica and now they're laughing at me.
Minutes after I begged Sawyer to let me in and let me apologize, I went to the front of the train and called Alfred and Veronica. They answered, saw my face and then started hysterically laughing.
I mean I know I screwed up. But did they honestly have to rub it in?!
"You're-oh my god you're such a fail!!!" Veronica wheezed out wiping away a tear.
"Gee, thanks for the support." I grumbled, picking at a fingernail.
"You didn't honestly believe that would help your case at all would it?!" Albert chuckled.
"She pissed me off, okay?! What was I supposed to do, let her say bitchy things to me and completely ignore it?!" I yelled bitterly.
"You wouldn't have to go that far, but poking at possibly her biggest insecurity might not have been the best thing?" Veronica rolled her eyes acting as if I was the stupidest person in the world.
Maybe I was. I mean seeing as I said that. I could've said absolutely anything else, but instead I went way too far.
"You have no clue why she did what she did, you have to give her a chance." Alfred chided.
"Well she has no right to judge me okay?! You act like she's doing absolutely nothing wrong, but instead she decides I'm this total player without knowing anything about me!" I yelled trying to win the fight, when I knew I had already lost.
"Can you blame her!? So far all you've acted like is a sexist f-boy who uses a girl for pleasure, and then leaves her right after." Veronica shot back sharply.
I didn't think I would ever see Veronica defend Sawyer after already acting like she hated her after only a day. But instead here she is, calling me out and defending her.
Albert began to say something, but was interrupted by the door leading to the front of the train sliding open.
"Oh, I hope you guys weren't talking about me," Sawyer's voice dripped with anger that made me fear for my life,"I hope you aren't going to punish me by throwing me off the train. Oh, wait that'd be a privilege."
"Actually we were going to discuss what you will have to do at the first stop in Maine tomorrow. But then we found out that instead of being ready for anything, you were having a tantrum in your room." Veronica said cooly.
Sawyer walked up and took the seat next to mine, her fingers clenched.
"Why would we being going to Maine, last time I knew where I was, I was in Austin, Texas." Sawyer gritted her teeth and I could tell she was trying her best not to kill everything she could.
"Yes, well when we took you, you were put on a train that started in Canada." Alfred explained, and I swear even he looked like he was scared for his life.
"Because, that makes complete sense." Sawyer muttered, rolling her eyes.
"Anyways!" Veronica yelled."As we were saying tomorrow you will go to the first stop in Maine. There's going to be a lot of forest so be mindful of the zombies and be on your guard. We have provided lists in the drawer that will also have your weapons. There is two separate lists for both of you in a stack for all the places you will visit. Each of you will grab the list from the stack labeled with your name, that says Portland, Maine. Next to the list will be your weapons to use once off the train. These drawers will only open when you stay at the station. The minute you come back to the train the doors will close and lock incase of danger. If the train is finished with being automatically gassed up and repaired by the machines provided in the station that do everything automatically, you will leave immediately. If it isn't finished and you are already back in the train, you will have to wait a little while before you leave."
"Sounds simple enough." I said confidently causing Sawyer to immediately roll her eyes. Geez I'm never going to get used to that.
"You have to remember one thing. Even though you are immune to zombie bites and scratches, it will still harm you and has the potential to give you any sickness, from a small fever to a sickness that has the power to kill you, depending on how bad the injury is." Alfred warned us.
Sawyer sighed and rolled her eyes acting as if she's heard the speech a billion times and just wants to leave. I guess I can't really blame her though, she's already annoyed enough, and before this happened she was able to live on her own, now she can't do anything without to English people hovering over her like overprotective parents.
"Aye, aye, captain, Do you have any more orders and rules for me? Or can I go back to "throwing a tantrum" as Veronica calls it." Sawyer rolled her eyes and picked at a fingernail.
"Yes one more actually," Veronica said with a smug look on her face, obviously enjoying Sawyer's annoyance,"under no circumstances are you to separate from one another's side."
