As we walked to the park the air was filled with an awkward silence. Lydia had her arm linked with Brendon's, making me a little annoyed.

"So Ryan, why exactly are you here?" Lydia asked me.

"He's staying with me for a few weeks." Brendon answered for me.

"Why's that?" Lydia asked looking at me.

"Uh, I-"

"His parents are out of town." Brendon cut me off.

"Hm." Lydia hummed with a sceptical look.

"Would you mind if me and Brendon have some time alone." Lydia said, not really asking, more demanding.

"Sure." I sighed and walked in a different direction.

I could hear Lydia and Brendon laughing as I watched them, trailing behind.

What I wouldn't do to be the one with him right now.

Maybe I'm too clingy. Brendon's one of my only friends and I barely leave him alone. I'm sure he needs his space, and maybe we are spending too much time together.

Maybe I was right. Maybe we were spending too much time together, I need to leave him alone. After I came to that realization I stopped walking and looked around. The town was just up the road and I could easily walk away without Brendon and Lydia noticing.

I looked at them one last time to see them lost in their own conversation, and turned around to head up the road. I walked along the sidewalk with the cold wind hitting my face. It was late November and it was getting pretty cold. Soon enough Christmas would be here and I wouldn't even have a family to celebrate it with.

I was never much of a holiday person (unless it was Halloween) but my mom and me always had the best Christmases together. I was gonna miss that.

By the time I pulled myself out of my thoughts I was walking into the town.

I looked back behind me and Brendon and Lydia were long gone.

I walked further down the street, looking through shop windows to see if anything interested me.

I noticed a little corner store so I walked in to buy myself something to drink or anything else I might want.

I walked to the til when I picked up a monster from the fridge and saw Spencer standing there organizing stuff on the shelf with his back to me.

"Spencer?" I asked squinting my eyes to see if it was him.

"Ryan?" He turned around.

"I didn't know you worked here." I looked around the store.

"Oh yeah, my dads the manager so I work after schools and sometimes in the day when he needs it that bad, but it's cool 'cause it means no school." He told me.

"Oh. That's cool." I told him.

"Hey, my shifts over in about 10 minutes, do you wanna grab something to eat? And if you ask me everything in here is way overpriced." He pointed at the drink I put on the counter.

"I uh," I stuttered knowing I should probably go back to Brendon. But I was clingy and he needed space remember, "yeah sure." I nodded with a smile.

I waited and talked with him while he moved stuff around on the shelf for the next 10 minutes, until an older woman with medium lengthed brown hair came through the door.

"Thanks for watching the store, sweetie, I'll take it from here." The woman smiled at spencer as she slid behind the counter.

"Thanks mom. I'm gonna go get some food with my friend Ryan." He smiled taking his blue polo shirt off and replacing it with a plain black one.

"Alright sweetie, don't be home too late, and make sure you call if anything comes up." She smiled and Spencer kissed her cheek.

"Okay. Bye." He said and walked out the door with me following.

We walked up the street and stopped at a little café.

Spencer and I walked in with our hands in our pockets. We ordered our drinks and sat at a table at the back where no one was.

"So firstly, why are you wearing a suit?" Spencer chuckled at me.

"Well since I've been staying with Brendon, today this girl he's meant to get with came over and we had to go do stuff with her and look good cause their rich, or whatever." I chuckled.

"Lydia?" He asked with a knowing look.

"Yeah. Why, do you know her?" I asked.

"Yeah, she loves Brendon, she acts so sweet around him but she's so annoying." He laughed.

"I don't think she liked me." I shrugged.

"She doesn't like anyone," he laughed, "I mean unless it's Brendon." He rolled his eyes.

"I mean I would be pretty annoyed if a gay guy tried to steal my future husband too." He joked.

"Yeah." I nodded. But he was right, that's all I am, some gay guy and that's Brendon's wife to be. I'm nothing compared to her.

"But I mean you have nothing to worry about, since you and Brendon are dating anyways." He smirked.

"How did you know?" I asked with wide eyes.

"Wait what?! Your actually dating? I was only joking oh my god!" He told me covering his mouth with his hand.

"I mean no.. We're not dating..haha I was only joking." I said trying to play it off as a joke.

"Oh my god you guys are totally dating, when did this happen?" He asked leaning over the table.

"Well," I signed deciding to tell him the truth, "it happened last night." I shrugged.

"Oh come on, I need more detail than that. What were you doing who asked who? Tell me, tell me, tell me, I have to know." He literally begged.

"Okay, okay," I laughed, "well we've been pretty close for the last week ish and we kissed a few times. So yesterday we were in his garden and he and I were just laughing and talking and I asked what we were. He told me that we were past friends and asked me to be his boyfriend and I obviously said yes. Then his mom came home and we went to bed." I told him.

"And nothing more?" He smirked and wiggled his eyebrows.

"No. We just shared a bed and slept." I rolled my eyes.

"That's what they all say." He winked and I laughed at him.
