Neon Bolt POV

I sat on the top of a tree, just outside the front door of the mansion. I checked my watch, 5:59 am, Splatter would be here soon. I picked up the knife that I had set to the side. It was a standard steel knife, it was pretty old and dull, so that I couldn't hurt Splatter too badly.

I heard the door to the mansion swing open, I looked down and saw Splatter step outside, wearing a green sleeveless top and jean shorts. She didn't look up, I jumped down behind her and put my knife to her neck. She yelped in surprise, but I quickly covered her mouth with my hand. "Lesson one," I started. "Always be aware of your surroundings."

She was completely frozen, not doing anything. I let her go and took a step back, my eyes narrowed. "Lesson two," I said. "Attack when confronted. You could have jabbed me in the stomach with your elbow, or kicked me in the shin. If that had been real, you would be dead." I zapped her as punishment and she yelped.

"Neon!" I heard Slender say telepathically from inside the mansion. "I told you not to harm her with your powers! Be gentle with her, she's new."

I crossed my arms. "If your going to even be able to properly protect yourself you need to learn to use a weapon" I said. "What do you think you would be good a handling?"

She brushed her bangs out of her face. "I think that I would work well with something I can swing around," she said.

I raised an eyebrow. "Like a hatchet?" I asked. I knew for a fact that the mansion didn't need another Toby, Masky would definitely go ballistic.

She looked up. "Actually I was thinking of something like a metal rod," she said.

I glanced up at the tree beside me, I jumped up and began climbing until I came to a short, sturdy, leafless branch. It was about four feet long, and fairly straight. I snapped it off, then jumped down and handed it to her. "You can use this for now," I said. "We can get you a proper weapon later."

She nodded and snapped off a couple of twigs that were in the way of her hands. I took a couple of steps back, then got into position. "Lesson three," I started. "Think fast."

"Wait, wha-" I cut her off by rushing at her and jabbing at her stomach. "Whoa!" She shouted, jumping out of the way. I continued my endless assault. I swear, she was the worst fighter on earth. Her footwork was sloppy and she wasn't even using her weapon. However, she was quick. I managed to cut her a couple of times, but she dodged most of my attacks.

"Use your weapon, gosh darn it!" I shouted.

She then swung the branch at me and managed to jab me in the gut. Her eyes lit up with excitement, and a smile crept onto her face. Why does she have to be so darn happy sometimes?

I have to admit I envied her, her powers were more useful than mine. She even had to save me when I couldn't save my friends! I even envied her personality, she was always so cheerful. I felt a tiny bit guilty for being so hard on her, but I didn't want anyone to think I had a soft spot.

I kept slashing at her, I could tell she was getting tired, she was beginning to slow down and I was landing more blows. Finally, I swept her legs out from under her, causing her to fall. I placed my foot on her chest, pressing down. I smirked in victory. "I win," I said, getting off of her.

She sat up, rubbing her collar bone. I crossed my arms. "We'll train again tomorrow, same time," I said, then turned around and went back inside to go get some rest.
