Jess fell asleep shortly after that, but I lay awake for hours trying not to think about and his girl but I couldn't seem to keep it off my mind. It sucked but finally I was able to fall asleep only to be plagued by dreams of Bam with other girls. Even in sleep I couldn't seem to escape the harsh reality of the fact that Bam just didn't like me like that, I would always just be his best friend and nothing more.
I was heading downstairs the next morning when Bam grabbed me before I even made it to the stairs, and he pulled me into his room. "Emmy, I have to tell you all about last night!" he said excitedly. I turned to look at him waiting for him to continue and mentally preparing myself for the details. He started telling me how good she tasted when he stopped suddenly. "Keep going Bam, you haven't gotten to the good part yet." I said but he shook his head.
"Do you feel okay? You look really pale." He said after staring at me for a minute. "I'm fine Bam." I told him even though I really didn't feel well. My head was pounding and I was really dizzy, not to mention my throat was killing me. Bam still stared at me then stuck his hand on m forehead. "I think you have a fever Emmy." He said then took my hand and dragged me downstairs.
"Ape! I think Emmy's sick." Bam yelled as we walked into the kitchen where the entire crew was sitting waiting for breakfast. "I'll take care of her!" All the guys yelled at once and I just glared at them all. April came over and felt my forehead. "Bam, bring her back up to your room, I'll be up in a minute." She said so Bam lead me back upstairs. "Do I really have to sleep in your nasty sheets?" I asked him.
"I already changed them." He said pointing to a pile of sheets in the corner of his room. I climbed into his bed and he pulled the covers over me. April came in a few moments later and took my temperature, which was 103.3. April sighed. "Does your throat hurt?" She asked and I nodded. "You most likely have strep throat."
"I'll go home if you want. I don't want to get everyone sick." I offered. I knew first hand how high maintenance the boys could be when they were sick. They were all babies. "You're staying here. I don't want you alone. Just stay here and rest. I'll go make you some tea." Ape said and left the room.
Bam stared at me after April left. "What?" I asked finally.
"I don't like when you're sick. Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" He asked and I nodded. "Yeah, keep al our crazy friends away from me so I can sleep." I told him and he promised that he would. He finally left the room to go get breakfast and made me promise to call him if I needed anything. April brought me tea and applesauce then left me alone so I could sleep.
I slept pretty much the whole day. Bam came in periodically to check on me and bring me medicine, but other than that no one bothered me. Bam really did keep his promise. Instead of feeling better throughout the day, I only felt worse. April and I both tried calling my mom several times, but she never answered. Actually, Jason answered one time when I called and told me not to bother my mother, but I didn't tell April that.
I had fallen asleep when Bam came in and gently shook me awake. "Can I have the key to your house?"
"Bam the door's never locked." I told him. He left the room for a minute then he came back in. "You really don't look good, Emmy." He told me sitting down next to me and handing me more Advil and a mug of hot tea with lemon, "Thanks Bammy, that's exactly what every girl wants to hear." I told him taking the medicine and drinking my tea. He laughed and brushed some hair out of my face. "You know what I mean. You just don't look like you feel well." He said right before I heard Ryan and Dico yelling for Bam. He left saying to text him if I needed anything. I told him I would and he left and I rolled over to go back to sleep.
I got up a little while later and went to take a shower before heading downstairs. "How are you feeling?" April asked when I walked into the kitchen. "Like shit." I answered turning on the teapot to make more tea for myself. "Are you sure you don't want me to go home?" I asked.
"Nonsense. You're staying here so we can take care of you. Jess went to your house today and found your doctors phone number so I made you an appointment for tomorrow. It's at 10:30 so everyone will be at school so they wont be tagging along." She told me and I thanked her as I took my tea back upstairs to Bam's room. I couldn't sleep so I just started flipping through channels.
I must've fallen asleep because the next thing I remember is Bam crawling into bed. "Go back to sleep babe, I didn't mean to wake you up." He told me so I closed my eyes and went back to sleep cuddled up against Bam because I was freezing cold despite the fact that Bam had put extra blankets on the bed. He must've been sweating his balls off but he didn't complain and let me sleep pressed against him. Despite how much of a jackass he could be to me it was moments like this that made me lobe him and put up with the bullshit.
The next morning I didn't even wake up when Bam got up for school, actually I didn't wake up until April came in and woke me up and told me I had to get ready to go to the doctor. I dragged myself out of bed and got ready and April drove me to the doctor. I felt horrible that she had to do it, I wasn't her responsibility and yet she seemed to care more about me and my well being than my own mother. It really bothered me actually and I hated that she had to do so much for me.
Of course I did have strep throat and I was prescribed antibiotics and sent on my way. April drove me to the pharmacy and paid for my prescription before driving us back to her house where she made me tea and scrambled eggs before sending me back to bed to rest.
Bam came up to see me as soon as he got home from school. "How are you feeling?" he asked sitting on the bed next to me. "Like shit actually." I told him and he laughed a little. "Well get better soon. Study hall is no fun without you and I actually went to gym since I had no one to ditch with. Oh and I got all your homework and stuff for you." He told me handing me a pile of papers. I thanked him then he told me he was going out to skate and to come get him if I needed anything. The he bounded out of the room and I tolled over to go to sleep.
For the next week I barely moved from Bam's bed. Everyday Bam would bring me my homework and every night he cuddled with me and held me while we slept. Falling asleep in Bam's arms was the most amazing feeling ever and it made me fall for him that much more which pretty much sucked fro me, knowing I could never actually have him.
