"Birchpaw, faster!" Raregem meowed. Birchpaw ran laps around the tree. Opalstrike was sitting by a stump, watching Lightpaw perfect her squirrel hunting. Birchpaw moaned as Raregem pushed him on. He stopped and dropped to the ground, panting.

"Get up, mouse-dung," Raregem hissed, nudging Birchpaw up. Opalstrike glared at her sister, making Raregem flinch. "Fine, take your stupid break," she grumbled, excusing Birchpaw.

Birchpaw approached Lightpaw, panting. "Raregem got your tongue," Lightpaw giggled, teasing the tom.

Birchpaw rolled his green eyes. A soft caw escaped his mouth, signaling he was rather annoyed. He looked at his paws and put his head on them, tail flicking.

Opalstrike nodded to the apprentices and her sister. "Come on, everybody. We all deserve a nice, juicy piece of fresh kill. And plus, I'm sure we need a good-night's sleep." she meowed kindly, looking over the exhausted apprentices and  her sister, whom was cleaning herself.

--

Bloodkit, Deathkit, Lostkit, and Cursekit nearly tripped Birchpaw, the tom luckily pulled back from embarrassment by Lightpaw, who had grabbed his tail quickly. Cursekit, the biggest and the one in the lead, skidded to a halt and dipped his head. "I'm sorry, Birchpaw!" he meowed, fear in his eyes.

Birchpaw shook his head and smiled. It's okay, he wanted to say out loud. But he couldn't. Tired, he walked to the apprentice den and didn't even stop to say hi to any other cats. He fell onto his moss bad and fell asleep, snoring.

--

He let out a squeal of fear as he was being carried through the forest, his russet face being slapped with mud, branches, and wind. His paws scraped the mud, and his paws dragging through the dirt. He couldn't see the face of the cat whom was taking him, nor did he care.

The their stopped at a clearing where moonlight hit the grass. The figure dropped him and revealed herself. Birdcall. "I'll teach them. This will be a warning!" she meowed, laughing maniacally. "First, I kill the weak one!"

Birdcall picked up Birchpaw and smiled as she drew blood slightly. The two looked down to see a ravine with sharp edges staring back up at them. "Say good bye, kittypet!" she snickered as she threw him over the ledge.

And Birchpaw started falling down. . . down. . . down . . .
