I was very ill. I kept throwing up. I was trying to get some soup down when I rushed to the bathroom. James followed me to hold my hair back. I looked down and saw red.James saw the blood and yelled for our parents. They rushed me to the hospital. Dr. Drift ran test then information my parents that I a rare disease that caused me to become extremely sick. It's called Advanced Cycle, which is when the person goes through cycles of extreme sickness. There is a treatment for this disease and that I would have to take medicine to stop the cycles on a daily basis. Mom and Dad went outside to talk about it.

I asked, "Dr. Drift, what are the side affects of taking the medicine? I just want to know."

"Well, there is dizziness, sleepiness, and can make you pass out.If you were my daughter, I would have you take the medicine and not have to see your life end early,"said Dr. Drift.

I nodded and gave him a small smile.Dad and Mom came in and decided that I would be taking the medicine. I was released by three o'clock. My brothers were waiting at the front door for us.I smiled and they knew everything was going to be okay. I had dinner then went to bed afterwards.

I woke up in the morning feeling much better than yesterday. I took my pill and went down for breakfast. Max was taking me to school in his truck until we knew who the medicine affected me driving. Derek was waiting by my locker for me. I raised my eyebrow, but didn't say anything. He gave me a smile and leaned against a locker.

"I heard you were sick,"said Derek.

Someone cleared their throat and we turned to see who it was. Jake was glaring at Derek, as if he did something he didn't approve of. Derek nodded and gave me a smile.

"See ya later, Amber,"said Derek.

I watched walk down the hall then turned to face Jake.

I asked, "Why in the hell did you make him leave me alone? I actually like talking to him."

"He knows the rules," was all Jake said then walked away.

I starred after him dumbfounded. I went to my classes in a daze. Derek waited for me at lunchtime since it's the only thing my brothers and I don't share. We sat down outside under a big oak tree.

I asked, "What did my brother mean when he said you know the rules?"

Derek sighed and looked me right in the eye. What he did next shocked me into silence. He kissed me.I sat frozen for a while then started eating.

I asked, "What was that for?"

"I like you as more than just a friend," said Derek.

I nodded then smiled. I liked him in that way too.

"Amber, will you go out with me this Saturday night?"asked Derek.

I nodded and smiled again. He kissed my hand then held it for the rest of lunch. We learned that we both want to work for the police and that we love working on motorcycles. The bell rang and we went back to class.

After school got out for the day, Derek walked me to Max's truck and kissed me goodbye in front of my brothers. I smiled and watched him walk away. I turned and saw my brothers' jaws dropped. Max drove us home then went to see dad at work. I sat down and did my homework. Jake came in with James talking about Derek. I quickly hid in the pantry to listen in.

"Derek knows the rules. Werewolves can't date humans without the risking the exposure of the werewolves. I want to keep Amber safe from our world. She's had to co-exist with our world since Mom and Dad adopted her after her accident. She has no memory of her real parents. She might never remember," said Jake.

"Don't say that, Jake. She deserves to know her former life before her deadly accident," said James.

They made their way out of the kitchen and into the living room. I ran to my room and looked myself up. A newspaper article showed the car wreck that killed my parents. I read about myself and started crying.I wiped my eyes and looked out my window trying to remember my past that I have no memory of. Mom walked by my room and heard me crying. Mom walked in and saw the screen and gave me a hug.

I asked, "When were you going to tell me that I was adopted?"

Mom reached out for me, but I backed away from her.

"Honey, we were hoping that your memory would come back.We wanted to tell you, the doctor advised against it,"said Mom.

I said, "I want to go see my parents graves."

Mom grabbed her keys then took me to my real parents graves. I looked down at their graves.I got a flash of memory, but it disappeared. Mom took me back home and I went to bed.
