ANJU AND KAFEI
A Zelda Retelling
It was a dark and stormy night. Kafei had just returned from the Milk Bar, after bragging to his buddies about his sweetheart, Anju. Clock Town was eerily silent, after a vibrant day of tourists. The Carnival of Time was just around the corner, and Kafei planned to get married on that day. He pulled out his wallet and looked at a small, crumpled picture. "Oh Anju, how I love you so." He stroked his hand over the picture for several minutes before finally putting it away.
"Can I play with you?"
Kafei looked up. He looked around not knowing where this mysterious voice had come from. Maybe it was all that milk. He shrugged and kept walking, this time at a faster pace.
"Can I play with you?"
This time Kafei saw the mysterious figure. It was small, almost childlike, and wore a strange mask. "No, sorry kid. You should be home anyways. Where are your parents?"
The strange figure looked up and murmured something that Kafei couldn't hear. "You shouldn't have done that..."
Kafei saw the figure lift his hands. A dark power emanated from them. All of a sudden, Kafei felt his whole body go numb, but he still felt a tingling sensation. When he looked up, the figure was gone. Kafei looked down. To his surprise, he wasn't very far off the ground and his hands were... smaller. Kafei realized that his whole body was smaller... He had been turned into a child!
"I will get you, whoever you are, and I will get revenge!" Kafei looked down. "And I will marry you Anju, even in this form."
Kafei trudged home, dazed and confused. Anju wouldn't even believe it was him, much less marry him. He wondered how his life could have gone so wrong in a matter of seconds. In the back of his mind, he wanted to believe that he had drank a little too much, and none of this was real. This is what he told himself as he stumbled back.
It started to rain, hard. Drenched and disheartened, Kafei began to sob, like the child he was. Embarrassed, he put on his Keaton mask and ran off.
