Emily's POV

I started to become anxious, so I decided to mess with the end of my sky blue jacket. After about 15 seconds, I realized that he wasn't going to talk, so I decided to say something.

"Yes?" I questioned.

"Oh, sorry," He shook his head, almost as if he had been day dreaming. "Do you want to come sit with me?"

"Um, s-sure," I stuttered. I cursed myself in my head for stuttering in front of the most popular guy in school.

The boy grabbed my hand, but I pulled it away. He looked at me confused and started to open his mouth to speak, but I cut him off before he could say anything.

"Sorry, but I think I'll just follow." I said barely above a whisper, so I'm surprised that he actually heard me with the announcer calling the plays and the student section screaming.

"Of course," he gave me a small smile.

I stared at the back of his head, not willing to look around and risk making eye contact with someone. As he lead me up a few steps, he suddenly stopped because a girl with her boyfriend wanted walk down the steps, so we let them pass.

"Uh, What's your n-name again?" I asked feeling super embarassed.

"It's Nate," he lightly chuckled.

We continued walking up about 5 more steps before we reached his friends. I stood behind him, not knowing what to do or say. I'm standing in front of the most popular kids in school. They are at the top of the popularity scale, and I'm at the bottom.

"Hey guys, this is Emily," Nate introduced me to his friends.

Feeling compelled to be social, I raised my hand and waved it faintly while softly saying, "Hi."

A boy with blonde hair, blue eyes looked over to me and smiled, "Hey, I'm James."

"I'm Taylor," a girl with brown hair, green eyes spoke.

I smiled at them both. "Sorry, the others are really focused on the game." Nate apologized.

I glanced at the group of teens staring intently at the football players, and I giggled at them.

Nate sat down next to James, and he patted the seat next to him signaling me to sit down. I sighed and took a seat beside him.

"So, do you like football?" Nate questioned.

"Absolutely not," I glanced over at him, then looked back at the field.

"Not to be inquisitive, but why did you come?"

"To my watch my sister perform at half time with the dance team." I stated bluntly.

Nate nodded his head scanning the score board. "Do you want to get some concessions?"

"Not really."

"But, you didn't eat lunch."

"H-how do you know that?" I felt attacked by his question and almost as if he was going to force me to eat.

"It just so happens that I passed by you at lunch, and I noticed that you weren't eating nor did you have food that you were going to eat."

"Oh," I sighed feeling relieved, but still not fully believing his story. "I ate after school," I lied. I wasn't really hungry whenever I got home, and I definetily wasn't willing to eat in public.

Nate nodded his head again, but this time slowly. He obviously didn't believe me, but thankfully he let the subject drop.

"So, what are you doing tomorrow?" Nate questioned.

"Not much. I'll probably just stay home," my honesty shocked me. Usually, I hated telling people that I have no plans because I feel as if they'll think that I'm a loner.

"Do you want to hang out tomorrow?"

I sat there for about 3 seconds, just staring at him and shocked that somebody actually wanted to hang out with me. "Uh, s-sure."

"Great, so what do you want to do? We can go out for ice cream, bowling, the movies, the park-"

"The park sounds fine." I cut him off because that's the best place that I have the least chance to embarass myself.

"Great, so I'll pick you up at 7:00 tomorrow afternoon."

"S-Sounds good."

He handed me a piece of paper. I crinkled my eyebrows together, confused. I started to open it, but he put his hand over my hands to stop me, "It's my number. Text me your address whenever you get home, so I can pick you up tomorrow."

I nodded my head and put the piece of paper in my pocket. Why didn't he just tell me his number while I put it in my phone?
