Luke's POV
I searched for an empty space to park my motorbike. Once finding one, I parked and began walking towards the entrance. I exhaled a large breath and ascended the cement steps. No matter how times I'd done it, it was always nerve racking to start at a new school.
I walked towards the reception desk.
"Hey. I'm Luke Hemmings, I'm new here."
"I'll get your timetable sweetie."
The woman disappeared to collect my timetable. Despite doing this a thousand times, I was still nervous. I watched all sorts of teenagers run around, trying to get to class. The woman returned and held out a piece of paper.
"Here you are. I'll have someone show you around."
I nodded. Her eyes roamed through the crowd of students, attempting to find a guide.
"Alexia, could you be a darling and show this boy around. He's new."
The girl walked towards me and smiled. She had light blue eyes, that almost appeared grey. I smiled back and greeted her.
"Hey I'm Luke."
"I'm Alexia. Let's see your timetable."
I handed her my timetable and she began scanning her eyes across the black ink. She folded it in half and handed it back to me.
"Lucky you, we both have English so we can go together." She pushed her light brown hair behind her shoulder and smiled at me. She turned right and began walking. I followed her.
"So you're seventeen?" I asked.
"Sixteen. And you're seventeen?" She asked.
"Yep. I guess this school has mixed year classes."
"Yeah, but that does have some benefits." She said giving me a flirtatious smile.
We finally stopped walking. I held open the door for her as we walked inside. She pointed upwards to the stairs. Great. We climbed up and then walked into the classroom. I noticed as all eyes had landed on me. I looked back at the people and noticed a familiar face sitting in the corner. It didn't take me more than a minute to recognise her. Kamila.

Kamila's POV
Luke? I thought he would have fled the city by now. I noticed that his eyes were locked on mine. I lifted my head and smiled. I wanted to ask him to sit with me, but of course my shyness felt otherwise. Why should I bother anyway? Even if there was the slightest possibility that he may like me, I'm sure he'd get bored of me within a few days.
Luke continued to stand there awkwardly, unsure where to go. I should really say something.
"Luke, come sit over here!"
He turned his head towards the voice and smiled. He walked over to the girl and her friend, sliding his bag off his shoulder.
"Hey thanks for letting me sit here Alexia and?" He asked the brunette girl.
"Daniella. And no problem! We wouldn't want you to be stuck with those losers over there." Daniella said with a laugh.
Luke let out a small laugh. Typical. Those girls had every guy wrapped around their little fingers.
I felt the side of my leg vibrate. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and set it down on my lap, hiding it from the teacher. My friend Calum had texted me.
Hey Kam, I'll meet you under our tree for recess
Alright, I'll be there :)
When class had ended, I collected my items and began making my way to meet Calum.

Luke's POV
I rummaged through the crowds of students, searching for Kamila. She left the classroom so fast, I hadn't gotten the chance to talk to her. I pushed past the people and finally, I was out of the building. I looked in all directions for Kamila, and spotted her dark brown pony tail. I started jogging after her, but stopped once seeing her in another guy's embrace. Did she have a boyfriend? She's beautiful, of course she had a boyfriend. I hated to admit it, but I was jealous. And over a girl I hardly knew.
