I sat in my car in shock. I didn't know what to do or how to react. Most people when they find or meet their soulmate would've been jumping in joy or sobbing tears of joy, but not me. I was in my car freaking out because my soulmate was a celebrity that every girl was after.

A lot of people would've killed to be in my shoes. I mean, who wouldn't want to be paired with Luke Hemmings, the talented and handsome lead singer from the punk rock band 5 Seconds of Summer? But that was exactly the problem. If people found out I was his soulmate, fans would be coming after me and make my life a living hell. I didn't want that. I didn't need that.

"Fuck," I muttered to myself. "Welp," I said pulling out of the parking lot. "Better test out this new color. Maybe it'll keep my mind off things."

Walking into the art store, I headed straight towards the paint section and stared at the new colors before me. My eyes began to roam and I started naming all the colors I was finally able to see. "Periwinkle, baby blue, cyan, turquoise, navy, ultramarine, midnight blue oh gosh there's so much blue," I whispered to myself as I picked up blue after blue after blue.

A worker came up to me and asked if I needed any help finding a color. I looked at her to see she has strands of a blue-green mix in her hair. Tears formed in my eyes and I smiled at her, "Can I have a palette of colors?"

She handed me the store's book of colors that customers request from. "What color are they?"

"I'm sorry?" I asked confused flipping through the pages of colors.

"His eyes," she implied leaning against the counter.

"I'm guessing a lot of people come in here after finding their soulmates?"

"Yeah and they had the same exact look as you do; baffled, confused, anxious, yet happy. But they usually came together," she stated looking at me in a pitiful manner. "What's your story?"

I looked down at the page of the different shades of blue and sighed. "I don't even know him."

"That's usually how it works for people like you; ya know those that can't see the certain color. You don't know who your soulmate is even though you meet eyes until direct contact is made."

"You seem to know a lot about this," I pointed out giving her a smirk.

She returned it and showed me the inside of her wrist to find a name in pretty cursive. There was a small heart over the "i" in the name and she looked at it in such a proud manner. "My soulmate explained a lot of things to me, before she passed away."

I instantly felt sympathetic, "My condolences."

"It's fine. She had third stage cancer so there was really nothing anyone could do. I just sat by her as she slowly slipped from my fingertips. I loved her a lot, ya know. She was my best friend, my world, my everything. But I guess I had her enough, we were friends since we were in kindergarten. Twenty-five years was a long time, but I wished I had her longer," she sighed looking at her wrist longingly. "So, tell me, why isn't yours with you right now?"

I avoided her eyes, "He's working right now."

"His work is more important that being with his soulmate?" she asked with tilt of her head.

"Yeah," I answered without a second beat.

"Oh, shit, I'm sorry about that," she apologized wholeheartedly.

I shook my head, "You don't need to be. It's okay though. I'd rather just live with this new color than tear him from his work and besides we didn't even have that infamous 'love-at-first-sight' thing happen to us. Funny how things work out."
