"Dean? Dean!" Dean snapped back into reality to find Triple H in front of him. "You okay with that man?" "Uh, Yeah sure." Truth is, Dean had no clue what he just signed up for. All that really got through to him were the words "Seth","Match", and "Futhering Your Storyline". Dean quickly got up and headed to the lockerroom. A little too quickly, he felt extremely dizzy afterwards, contributing to his nausea already.
While taping his wrists, Dean received many pats on the back and confident looks from other superstars, all indirectly wishing him luck as he was going against a superstars who was quickly rising to the top. Dean was just trying to self-motivate and remind himself to beat up Seth without breaking down first. Maybe this would be closure. After all this, things would be nonchalant and back to normal. Being able to have beers with the guys, Seth included, and just looking past everything. But again, that was a maybe.
Breathe in, breathe out. Tighten up, relax. Dean did one last mental run-through before he thrusted open the curtains and hit the ramp. The crowd erupted, per the usual. His theme shook the arena. He had a very brief, unclear flashback as he walked out. He remembered when people used to boo him, when he would walk down the stairs. When he won the United States Championship. Seth was there, always. Cheering him on, walking with him, taking the heat from the fans too. Roman always did the same, but he hadn't turned his back on Dean.Focus, Dean. Focus.
Dean came back to now and was the lunatic fringe. He shook almost every limb, and stuck his tongue out a couple times to give everyone that extra dose of instability. He was ready to see--- face Seth.
The opening notes of Seth's theme hit, then the dramatic pause. The strobes began to light up and the arena filled with boos. Seth had a smirk on his face like the Devil. But Dean knew. Seth could smirk, chuckle, and run his mouth all he wanted too, in and out of the ring, but Dean knew. Only because it was exactly what Dean was doing. Unreasonable, cocky behavior to get through it all. On some of Dean's quietest nights, you could hear his heart breaking. It was similar to the only sound Dean could hear right now. A kendo stick cracking against Dean's back as he cringed in the ring. Seth progressively let up and eventually stopped. This was barely a match. Dean couldn't fight back. Dean would have rather slept on a bed made of kendo stick splinters then have to face Seth anywhere. But he most likely couldn't sleep on that metaphorical bed either, Seth would always keep him awake. They say the human body can only go eleven days without sleep, but Dean would be awake for an eternity.
