Wax Liam woke with a funny taste in his mouth. Zen was gone, a note in his place. He would be gone for several days. Good.
Immediately, he texted his true lover. Pepe.
Liam: Babe, come over. I'm alone for several days.
Pepe: okay but i'm sad again
Liam: I have rye bread.
Pepe: i'm coming over now.
Several minutes later, Pepe arrives at Wax Liam's house.
"Where is Zen?" Pepe said.
"I don't know, but he's gone."
Pepe found the stale package of rye. "I'll toast it for you, but do have anything to go on this rye bread?"
Wax Liam dusts off a forgotten can of something from the corner. "We have...a can of pineapple rings."
Pepe shrugs. "I guess that will do." He brings the platter of rye bread to the table. The pineapple rings are slimy and brown, but they are delicious to Wax Liam's starving mouth.
Pepe makes more rye toast, bursting into song. "We're cool for the summer."
Wax Liam hums the autotune melody. "Ooooohh.." he croons as he stares into Pepe's chronically depressed eyes.
Suddenly, the door slams open. Zen is staring furiously at Pepe. "Drop that rye!!" Pepe drops the tray of rye toast.
Wax Liam pouts. "Nobody can drag rye down." he murmurs.
A curly head pops in the windowsill. "Nobody, nobody!" the mess of hair disappears as fast as it came in.
Wax Liam widens his eyes. "It's not what it looks like, I swear!
Zen slams the door behind Pepe. The smell of dank meme lingers in the room.
