The table was quiet but Kao's stares were loud enough for Pete to understand that the conversation was not yet done.

He murmured his thanks when Kao plated his food for him and he could still sense his irritation through the mound of rice on the plate.

"Eat," Kao commanded, his voice void of emotions as he placed a spoon and fork.

Pete leaned back and showed his arm. Apparently, during the accident at the site, his dominant hand took the fall, practically limiting his movements.

Kao rolled his eyes and scooted his chair closer to Pete.

"You're such a pain in the ass," Kao said in a low voice but given how silent the room was, it was loud and clear for all of them to hear.

"Should I take that figuratively...or literally?" Pete grinned.

Kao, who eventually realized what Pete said, turned crimson red. He could feel his face heating up all the way to the back of his neck.

"What the fuck, Pete."

"Language, babe. We're in front of the food. And although I really wanna eat you instead right now, we've got audience," Pete teased as he glanced at Third and Peter who were sitting just across them.

Third, whose eyes were still puffy from all the sleeping, snorted.

"You literally devoured my friend earlier, asshole."

Kao's face become redder.

"Oh, come on, dad. You've been away for almost a month and all you did was run your mouth. Geez. People in love stink. I gotta go. My friends are on their way here," Peter complained as he stood up, dragging the chair backwards.

Pete tilted his head towards Third, hoping he'd get his message and leave after Peter. But the guy just looked at him straight in the eye and chuckled.

"Sorry, dude, but I'm finishing my food first," he grinned before deliberately munching his food loudly for Pete to hear.

Pete sneered at him before turning to Kao with a smile on his face.

"Love, I'm hungry."

Kao didn't say a thing and just started feeding him, even blowing the soup for him. Despite still being irritated at him, his top priority was taking care of him given his injury.

"It hasn't been a day since I heard you nag about him and here you are, just one kiss and you literally forgot what he did," Third berated as he leaned back on his chair.

Kao just rolled his eyes at Third.

They went on with their breakfast in total silence, with Pete whimpering in pain once in a while.

Kao knew he was just pretending to get his attention but he decided to go with his act.

I'll deal with you later, he thought to himself.

Celeste later on went over to bring some paperwork for Pete. Along with her was a beautiful woman named Mathilda who turned out to be her girlfriend.
