We just sat in the dimly lit room for hours. Through the window the sounds of people yelling creeped in, making this seem even more surreal.

I glanced up at Calum to see his eyes slowly closing. I know I couldn't sleep, but it looked liked he might soon.

"Calum, you're allowed to fall asleep." The small amount of moonlight spilling through the window casted over his face.

His eyes slowly glanced up at me.

"I can't let you stay awake all alone. I have... I have to stay awake." His words slurred together due to how tired he was.

"Calum, just go to sleep." I watched him slowly lean down and spread out on the ground.

He put his hands under his head and pulled his knees up to his chest. I giggled at how childlike he looked.

His breathing slowed down and his mouth slightly parted. The only noise in the room was my light breathing and the small snores that escaped Calum's mouth.

Before I knew it my eyes started to close. I knew I had to stay awake, but I couldn't. My eyes slowly closed as I fell to my side.

I woke to a loud bang outside. Calum must have been woken up by it too, because he shot up from the same position he fell asleep in last night.

The candles had burnt out now, and I could see through the window that the sun was just starting to rise.

"Was that a gunshot?" Calum asked. I had no idea, it could have been a number of things.

"It might have been... Do you think that someone's been shot?" I asked. "What if someone's out there shooting people??"

"Kat, it's probably nothing. We should just stay in here for a while." I nodded my head as I stood up.

"How long did you stay awake for?" Calum asked with a small grin.

"How do you know I even fell asleep, Mr. I have to stay awake." Calum just stuck out his bottom lip at me.

"I was trying my hardest." He said, putting a hand on his heart. He let out a small giggle and I just lightly pushed his shoulders.

"I'm actually really hungry, do you think you have food that doesn't need electricity?" Calum asked.

I actually hadn't thought this far ahead. Wouldn't all the food go bad? And the house would probably get hot enough to melt glass.

"I have no idea. We can look?" I said, sitting up a little taller. Calum just groaned.

"Or you can look for me?" His shoulders rose up a little bit when he asked.

"No. I'm not going through my entire house alone." I grabbed his hand and pulled him behind me.
