Chapter 10

Kari walked around Skyworld with a sigh as she recalled her nightmare from yesterday. She had never had a nightmare with Allen in it. Kari shook it off then heard footsteps running towards her. It was Pit. He skid to a stop and wheezed then spoke.

"Kari, we have a mission. Let's move out!" Pit said and Kari nodded. Her scarf ends turned into wings as she rushed to the door and leapt out of the door that always put her and Pit in the general area of the mission. Palutena had taken a break from reading and had stepped out of the library to help. She granted Pit the power of flight and led the angel as well as Kari to their mission.

"Medusa has found what she has been looking for. We must stop her at all costs!" Palutena told Pit.

"Lady Palutena, what exactly is this legend or thing she's looking for?" Pit asked while he shot down a monoeye that was too close to Kari.

"Its the "legend of the divine" or something like that. It basically tells the legend of all gods and goddess. If changed then the gods and goddess that were apart of that legend change according to the legend."

"So Medusa could reverse the effects of the spell you put on her and turn you into a monster!" Pit gasped in shock and Kari blinked. The two sped up and then entered a laboratory in a desert like area near old Egyptian ruins. It looked like a fossil dig was near the laboratory. Pit and Kari entered when they saw some underworld army troops float into the laboratory. They soon spotted Medusa with a huge stone slab that had strange writing engraved into it. Kari blinked at the scene and gulped.

"Now lets see. Hmmm... Not there, nor there. Ah! Uh, no... Ugh, where is it?!" Medusa growled and her son frowned from near by.

"If you want I could go get father to help you mother." Serpendes said with a sigh. Medusa shook her head.

"No, my snake, you don't need to bring Hades into this. He's too busy as it is. Getting the power you set free on your first mission." Serpendes sighed when Medusa spoke.

"I never meant to let it escape, mother. It was just far too fast." The young god spoke. Medusa sighed and glanced over at her son.

"It is ok. At least it's out. Just relax for the moment and focus on other things. My little god of the shadows." Medusa chuckled and Serpendes sighed as his mother spoke. Pit and Kari watched then decided to rush in and attack.

"Medusa!" Pit called as he kicked Medusa in the side.

"Serpendes!" Kari snapped as she punched the young god in the back. Pit growled at Medusa and stood between her and the legend of the divine. Kari did the same only with Serpendes. Soon the four began to fight each other. Kari was using her abilities every now and again to either help herself or Pit. Sometimes Kari would hit Serpendes with a whip of water across the face to shift his gaze slightly. Kari also used some abilities that she had never used until now such as lightning, wind, and earth. This caught Serpendes off guard as well as Medusa, who had caught a glimpse of Kari's and Serpendes's fight.

But at the same time, she smirked. She figured something out and decided to use this to her advantage. She kicked Pit in his stomach and sent him flying into the wall and then ran to the stone slab then began to say something in a loud, echoing voice using a language that only those who live in the realm of the gods knew. Kari and Serpendes froze in place and looked at Medusa while Pit groaned as he stood up slowly. Kari's symbols began to glow brightly and Medusa smirked as she glanced over her shoulder to Kari. The goddess of darkness then stopped speaking and turned to Kari then bowed in mocking way but still in slight respect.

"Hello, goddess of the moon" Kari widened her eyes in shock and Pit growled in anger and pain. He knew what Kari was but he also knew it would affect her in some way and it could be very bad. So he kept quiet as well as Palutena, who knew from the very beginning. Serpendes stared then smirked as he understood what his mother was doing. Kari shock in both fear and confusion as she took a step back, then another and another while she shook her head in denial then fled the laboratory and to who knows where. Pit frowned and began to chase her.

"Kari wait!!" Pit called out but the angel was stopped by Serpendes by being punched in the stomach hard. Pit groaned and fell over in pain. He was then was picked up and taken to the underworld and held prisoner in the dungeon of Medusa's castle.
