Kirstie and Mitch met the next day by the oak tree to catch the bus. "I promise I won't rush this time." Mitch said with a side smile. "You better not!" Kirstie laughed, knocking on her cast. They got to the bus stop and waited. About fifteen minutes later, they stepped foot onto the school campus. Kirstie looked over to see Mitch with a complete 'durp' face on. He was in awe. "Close your mouth. You look like a dork!" Kirstie laughed, waking her friend out of his daze. "It is so mu..." He trailed off zoning into his stare again. "Mitchell. I don't speak mumble." Kirstie said. "It's so much bigger than I expected!" He said. "I can already tell you are going to have a blast this year!" Kirstie laughed.

They got their schedules, and crazy enough, they had all  but one class together. "Yay! I am so excited! Class is sooo boring if you don't have a friend in there with you." Kirstie said. "Am I allowed to see my teachers before the bell rings? It is always what I do on the first day... Or second day in this case..." Mitch said rubbing the back of his neck. Kirstie laughed. "Of course. I'll show you where to go." They got to the classroom they would be in for first period. "Hi, Aunt Mandy!" Kirstie said as they walked into the small room. "Kirstin! Hi!" A short, dark haired lady said. "Me and my friend, Mitch, have you first period!" Kirstie said, excidedly. "Aunt Mandy, Mitch. Mitch, Aunt M-.. er.. Ms. Maldonado." She said, blushing. Mitch laughed. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Maldonado." He said, shaking her hand. "Wow. I don't think I have ever met a kid with a handshake as good as yours!" Ms. Maldonado said. "Well you kids better get going if you still need to meet all your teachers. First period starts in fifteen minutes!" She said with a smile.

The two friends got done meeting all of their tachers but one. Kirstie stopped and turned around as Mitch ran into her, their noses touching. Kirstie suddenly felt her face on fire, but felt the slightest bit of relief when she saw Mitch's rosy cheeks as well. "S-sorry..." They said at the same time. They began to laugh.

A few moments later, Kirstie was serious. They were standing next to the closed door of the one teacher they haven't gone to meet. "Mitch, I'm warning you... this man is crazy. Take a moment and think of the craziest teacher at your old school." She waited until the small brunette nodded. "Now multiply that by 100." Mitch's eyes got big as they walked into the classroom. It was cold, and all the curtains were closed over the small, square windows. Kirstie broke the silence by clearing her throat. "M-Mr. Burrero?" She cracked. All of the sudden the lights turned on and there was a tall man sitting the front of the room. "Sorry, kids! I just got new motion-sensor lights. Hope they didn't startle you." Mitch looked at Kirstie like she was crazy. There is nothing wrong with this man. He thought. Kirstie formed two words with her mouth... Just.Wait.

The man walked over and put a small stuffed bird on his desk. It was covered in crumbs. "You caught me just as I finished feeding Ed!" "E-Ed?" Mitch said quietly. He was starting to see what Kirstie meant. "Do you kids want some banana bread to keep in your knapsacks for lunch?" The tall man said, fixing his glasses. "Um, no thanks. We're good..." Kirstie said. "Oh! Who is your friend, Kirstin?" "This is M-Mitch. He's new here." She said. "Nice to meet you, Mitch!" He said, messing up the brunette's hair. "Uhm. You too, s-sir." Mitch said in an un-easy tone. A few seconds of silence came upon them as Mr. Burrero groomed the fake bird with a fork. "W-We will be going now..." Mitch said quietly, dragging his friend out of the room. "Whoa..." Mitch said as they stepped outside. "I told you." Kirstie giggled.
