It was Monday. Mitch had missed two days of school, plus he had the weekend. He definitely didn't want to go back, though. His dad was still gone and Mitch would be more than happy to have it stay that way. Although, he did wonder where he could have gone... I mean, the man had no friends and his family hated him...

"Hey, Mitch!" Kirstie exclaimed, running to catch up with him. The bell had rung and they were headed to their first period class. "Hey Kirst." He said softly. "Hey, where we're y-" She stopped him "Dude! What happened to your face?!" She asked loudly. "Oh.. Um. I- I slipped.. And my...face hit-" Kirstie held up her hand, signaling him to stop talking. "Mitch. You are a TERRIBLE lier. What really happened?" She said, a hint of worry in her voice. "It's... nothing, Kirstie. I am fine. Really." He said with a small smile. Kirstie shook her head, knowing she wouldn't be able to get answers. Mitch was too stubborn when it came to things like this. She knew that as a fact.

Mitch's POV

First and second period flew by VERY quickly... I'm not ready for math. At least now, I have Kirstie. I was supposed to text Scott last night, but there is a little problem... I don't exactly have a phone..... I mean, I did but my dad got angry one night and.. um... smashed it. AND I don't exactly know if I should trust him. He could be using me for all I know. I don't know... maybe I should get to know him better. Ugh! Mitch, what are you saying?! He is the school bully! Kirstie specifically told you not to go near him! But... then again, he is really sweet... well, to me..UGH.

Third period started and to Mitch's surprise, Scott wasn't there. That's strange... he thought to himself. Maybe he switched classes? Today, it was much easier for him to concentrate. Every once in a while, though, he would receive a written note from Kirstie.

Ugh this class is so boring, Mitch!

I liked my other math teacher better

Hey, why aren't you writing back???

MIIITCH I AM BOOORRED

Didn't you say Scott was in this class???

Kirstie eventually gave up, realizing she wasn't going to get any notes back. She leaned over to see what he was doing. "What's that?!?" She whispered. Mitch scrambled and hid the paper under the other ones. "W-what is what?!" He said with a guilty look. Kirstie gave him the stink eye and tried to grab the paper. "Hey! No! Kirstie that's mine!" Mitch said, louder than expected. All of the sudden, all eyes were on him... his face was bright red and burning.

"Excuse me, Mr. Grassi. You are disrupting my class." The tall teacher stated. She cleared her throat and held out her hand. "Hand me the paper, Mitchell. In my class, if you are caught passing notes, I read them aloud for the whole class to hear. Now, hand it over." Mitch slowly picked up the paper, not ready for the embarrassment. "It isn't exactly a... note, Miss." Mitch said, hesitant to give it to her. She motioned him to give it to her and he did. "Oh my heavens, Mitchell! This is... this- it's AMAZING!" She exclaimed as the whole class asked "What?? What is it?" She stared down at the art that lay on the back of the young boy's homework. There, a picture of a boy dipping his hand in a puddle, touching the hand of another boy, inside the puddle, almost like a reflection. The other boy looked just like the first, but instead... had wings.. like an angel. And it was all done beautifully in #2 pencil.
