Chapter 3:
When Baihly and I had finished unpacking my room, we sat on the window seat, staring out over the ocean view. It was getting dark, and the waves of the Malibu beach mimicked the peaceful wave sounds of Athens.
"So now that were done..." Baihly said, plopping down on the ledge of the window seat. "Tell me about you."
"What about me?" I asked, and Baihly laughed, playfully rolling her green eyes.
"I don't know, the normal stuff! Like did you have a teddy bear? How was life before Malibu? Where did you live? Have you ever killed someone? I don't know Xirena!" She ranted hilariously, running a slender hand through her jet black hair. I laughed.
"That escalated quickly..." I murmured and she growled teasingly.
"Okay, okay! Well....I'm 17, I've lived in Athens Greece my entire life until today, my old best friend lived there too and her name is Helaina, and I love the color aqua and swimming in the ocean. What about you?" I asked.
"You lived in GREECE!? That is so frickin cool! Oh and I'm a surfer, I love the color lime green, and there's nothing better than cheesy horror movies. Oh and I'm 17 too!"Baihly said nodding to herself.
All the sudden she grabbed her forehead and started screaming. My eyes shot open and I sat up straight.
"What's the matter Baihly!?!?" I cried trying to find an answer.
Then she burst out laughing, clapping a hand over her heart. I carefully scootched away from the Cali girl, my heart still racing.
"I watched this cheesy horror movie last night in my room... "The Call"... Have you seen it?" Baihly asked and I shook my head, playing with a long blonde curl around my pinkie.
"I haven't seen a movie in a LONG time... In Greece we didn't have too much technology." I explained, and Baihly widened her eyes.
"Wow.. No phone?" I shook my head.
"Weird... How did you guys talk to each other?" She asked her emerald eyes sparkling in wonder. I laughed.
"Our town was so small, that I could walk to the market or school or Helaina's house... Really anywhere was accessible by foot, so if you needed anything you could just go talk to them face to face." I explained.
"Dude... My mom would be ALL over that... She's in one of those anti-technology phases." Baihly trailed off and I chuckled.
"So are you going to explain your little... Meltdown?" I asked with one eyebrow arched. Baihly laughed.
"Oh yeah! Haha so in the movie I watched, this chick got her scalp cut off with a razor blade in a sketchy basement." She said nonchalantly.
My eyes widened in shock and terror, and my mouth hung open. Baihly laughed.
"What? It's nothing you haven't seen before..." She chuckled, before realization hit her. "Oh yeah you haven't seen modern horror movies!"
I smacked her arm, making her rub it fiercely.
"OW!"
"Thanks for scaring me, my first night here! Do people actually do that kind of thing in California? And you call that movie... CHEESY?!" I said laughing, and Baihly joined me.
"No, no, no, no! People aren't like that here, it's just movie producers are freaks these days..." She explained. I crossed my arms teasingly and turned away from her.
"Well your spending the night here, as punishment for scaring me." I said mockingly, and she grinned.
"You just want me to save you from the scary head scalpers." Baihly accused, and I snorted, pulling her close to me so I could whisper to her.
